O ...
SF has been anticipating Tiestos return for some time... We havent really had an event like this, im expecting this to go off just as well as the LA one did a while back.
Should be one awsome night. With the capacity of Bill Grahm, combined with a slew of Tiesto's screaming fans, (including myself) this is gonna be one for the record books. Im expecting the photos to turn out just as the photo below. Time to break out the SLR cams for this one.
Alain, how long is Tiesto expected to play? Is there a reason why you guys didnt decide to to this at 3COM or another Arena, rather than the Bill Grahm? IMO, I would think the accomodations would be better at an arena or something.
Heres an old pic of Pop, I believe this was 2003. I was sitting in the balcony, and I believe one of my friends took this pic. |

| I heard from a little monkey that there might be events in San Diego and L.A too. Not sure if the events will be as big as the one in SF. Can anyone else confirm? |

I can give one good reason, even if it may not be the reason.
Being an event that goes until 4am, having it near 3com presents problems.
1. It's a little out of the way for lots of people. Yeah, it's in SF but not in the heart.
2. Two, 3com it's in a bad area of the city and even if there's plenty of security, bound to be some bad things that happen.
3. I think using 3com would dampen the music -- acoustics would surely be a mess, bleachers would prob be empty giving the whole place an empty feel. Can't do tons of visuals. :p
Now...
1. Bill Graham is in the heart of San Francisco. Yes, it's right near the tenderloin but the whole area is well lit and although it's a bit frightening it's not too bad area to walk in.
2. People can easily take BART into the city. What about getting back with BARTs 8am Sunday start? Well, it largely allows people to make it into the city. What they do from there will vary from getting a hotel room, crashing with a friend in the city. Having a friend being kind enough to take them home. Go to some afterparties until BART is reopened.
3. Tons of hotels within walking, bus, or cheap taxi distance.
4. Can do crazy visuals!!
5. Sound the Spundae & Skills events have had have been awesome for production events like this!
4. Location (with visuals provided) is more attractive to those who can usethis as a reason to visit SF and do some touristy stuff in addition to going to TIesto.
5. It's Central located between the freeways (101-N, 101-S, I280, I80) that lead into and out of the city. At least it makes it much easier for those coming up from North to get to the location. I have always hated going down 19th Ave to get through the city.
Anyhow, have more I could type but work calls! |

| I'm guessing it won't be a 3+ hour set? |

| IMO. I suggest catering this night to Tiesto. Seriously, people gonna be there to see him, and I would like to see him longer than 3-4 hours. |

based on "OVERALL" aspects: location, convenience, costs, etc
Bill Graham really is the best venue for electronic massives. There are all the reasons Dave mentioned but one thing I wanted to add that 3com isn't staged for music therefore an entirely new setup would have to be arranged to make it happen which obviously increases costs and headaches. BGCA is already dialed in to work with almost any rider detail submitted. Just from previous events at 3com, I can imagine a promoter spending more energy on politics and city/stadium law officials than the creative control of the event.
----------
I don't know the entire details for this event yet, but I know they will be released soon, considering we really tried to have a flyer out by last weekend but it didn't happen.
The night is catered to Tiesto and to my understanding it will ultimately be up to him who plays in the main room, which I'm "assuming" will only be 1-2 DJs at most. Possibly 3 but I doubt it.
The majority of the lineup will be divided up between the other 2 areas: one being a house room and the other being breaks.
Full and Exact details will be announced very soon |

Out of the subject, I love the SFTA Pic, do you have the original? |
Nooooooo! It cannot be a 21+ event! Atleast 20+ (yes! One more year until I'm 21), hahaha. I haven't seen Tiesto yet and would LOVE to see the dude spin live... |

so this sounds to me like a full party with Tiesto headlining or is this a "Tiesto in concert"?
also what about the Pier???I agree that 3com kinda sucks but what about the Pier that skills used a while back??great location IMO |

| the only thing that interests me about this event is the possible line ups in the house and breaks rooms. hopefully they will feature at least one good headliner from each. tiesto does absolutely nothing for me and the crowd he draws even less. |

That's why I have to weigh out the pros and cons to see if he's even worth the money and travel time to see him.
I hate all the wannabees that come to see him just to drop e and say "OMg he dropped a classic. Just Be" Hahaha
Bleh. :whip: |

quoted for mothering truth. especially the day after Daft Punk, a Tiesto-themed massive is something I never plan to go anywhere near. |
