I disagree with this. A perfect example is Richie Hawtin. I've seen him about 6 or so times. 3 times he bored the out of me, and once he was ok, but the other 2 times he was a god. Untouchable. 2 of the most amazing music experiences I've ever had in my entire life.
Regarding people throwing around DJs like, Sasha, Deep Dish or Lawler, or Howells, there is a difference between you not liking them and them being overrated. |

no but honestly though, what has sasha done in the past few years that is so incredible? his set's are mediocre at best also but people talk about him like he's some sort of a god |

I highly doubt that alot of people in this thread are even in the position to say whether or not a dj is overated. In order to pass judgement on that you would have to listen to ALOT of stuff from that dj over a LONG period of time to be able to form any sort of accurate judgement at all.
Also, what exactly is meant by over-rated? One would think that it would be an exageration of the dj's level of skill, no?

lol, it wasn't a question for you....it was just a question in general.
in regards to sasah...i think i'd personally have to agree with jon's statement.
the man is a genious but sometimes he completely loses you while he is being that genious.....ie. 30 min ableton mix and him completely forgetting that the crowd even exists. |

By this logic, Tiesto is still the greatest. Once in a blue moon the man still drops a beautiful mix. 9/10 times he will drop effortless self-promotional . Can't respect that.
(Forgot to put Hawtin on that damn list as well)
I agree you probably should have seen a lot of what the DJ can do before you call someone overrated...Some people just seem to dislike someone and drop a name out.
On that note, how the could everyone have forgotten David freaking Guetta.

As for Sasha being overrated. Oh please...the last year or 2 may not have been his strongest but considering how long he's been in the game, and how long he's been on top, he can afford 2 years of mediocrity. |
