Yes, I know he has. That doesn't take away from how much of a genious Richie is though.

Takes away from how much of a genius you are though.

j/k, I love it when people misspell 'genius' because that word is usually used in a sarcastic manner.

yeah new sasha of course, i mean how does he still pull so many people to his shows etc?
he sucks now to be honest.. way too overrated

Sasha is one of my all-time fave DJs....
But presently he doesnt play music i particularly like.

Too minimal, no direction it seems, in HURTS to not have the glorious prog of Sasha nowadays...

Having said that, this does not mean he will stay this way forever.

I did really enjoy his WMC mix tho:)

PS. who ever said Digweed, that can really only mean you dont like that specific sound/genre.
Unlike Sasha, he DOES still play a ton of music i love

I think this is all kind of pointless. It seems to be taking the turn of "what dj I don't like" instead of overrated djs, and even overrated completely varies based on a persons experiences and musical preference.

Well sure, but it's just a msgboard. Aren't we allowed to share personal experiences and musical preferences?

I think the point is that it's just an endless debate. For every person out there who thinks Tiesto is over rated, theres another out there that looks at him as god.

When someone says Danny Howells, Richie Hawtin or Sasha are over rated (imo) it's simply because they just do not like the type of music they spin.

Hard to separate fact from opinion here. If *everyone* thinks Tiesto is overrated, that is a fact? But then if he was overrated, there wouldn't be people paying $60 to see him. So not everyone thinks he's overrated. But if I say I think Howells is overrated, that's wrong cause my opinion goes against your opinion?

So I think we agree that this thread is pretty dumb; I just said Howells to piss you all off cause you all worship him (Although I still think he's overrated, but that's because I don't see what all the hubbub is about, aaand partly because I find the whole notion of "needing 6 hours for a set to start to get good" to be pretty amusing).

P.S. To whoever said that I'm not in any position to judge Howells because I only listened to one set, I would say that fact is pretty irrelevant. You guys were all going crazy for his EM, and I figured that would be a good representation of what his "good" sound is like, so I listened to it, and I found it to be good music for when I'm coming down after an E trip, when I want to listen to something to calm my body down. Ergo, I found the set to be overrated, and since it's a representation of Danny's good sound, I can safely say that he is overrated as well then. Unless of course you point out again that I need to listen to an 8-hour set of his to really enjoy him, but I think that if I got bored after 1.5 hours, I'll probably be dazed after 7.

Well so is the rest of the msgboard discussion, at least this debate is about dance music. Ultimately it interests me to know public opinion... I like to know what musically my friends are feeling/ not feeling...

You are, I never said you couldn't did I? I just think people saying that one persons opinion is wrong because they haven't seen that DJ enough makes no sense at all. That's cool if it interests you, but as I said, I think it's pointless. I make my own conclusions of what I dislike and like and I don't really care if people agree with me or not. I will like what I like, and they will like what they like(for whatever reasons). As Jeff it is an endless debate because there are so many different opinions.

hah I feel this way about every thread ever made. I never said you had to agree with said opinions, I do however find it counter-productive to have this "it's pointless, I don't give a what anyone thinks" attitude. That's what the ing board is for!
