i hope the genius that is lou lamoriello falters again. two straight years of firing your coach on the eve of the playoffs? |
if you had a GM like Lou you would have made the plaoffs during that 7 year stretch when you sucked. you wouldnt have traded away all your talent to win that one cup in 94 though. yeah 94 sucked but hey you know what i wouldnt trade winning that series for the 3 cups i've seen my team win since. plus the division titles. oh and by the way when he fired the coach in 2000 we won the cup that year. |

duh. the garden was going about it the wrong way. 1994 was worth it and there was actually talent coming along. we traded those away for later failed runs in the regular season and the playoffs. actually the whole garden was going about things the wrong way by then (knicks included and we're still suffering). i'm not totally naive to think that they were running things poorly and that the devils were actually a model for how to build up the organization. maybe a few of us are. |

i agree, people should just enjoy watching a good game like i do. we all have our favorite teams but talking smack about another team does nothing.
also pvd420 lou is no doubt a great gm but let's not forget glen sather will go in the hall of fame and he's won more cups than another other gm...either way pierre lacroix is my hero :D. |

p.s. lundqvist is one hell of a goalie but by the time he is done he wont have his name all over the record books like marty is already and will even more so when he hangs up his skates. bet on it.

How can you say that , the NHL game really changed over the past few years with more penaltys called , two line passes allowed , the salary cap which evened out the teams , lets face it ... More GOals are being scored & the game is way more offensive if Lundqvist started out in Martys time they defently would be on the same level . But I still think Lundqvist is gonna accomplish alot over his time in the NHL . Pvd420 your GM is wack how can you sack a coach that got you into the payoffs and What if they win now Lou is gonna take all the credit haha his a grimy ass M/F :haha: |

that's because the MSG idiot owner James Dolan wanted star after star after star.
edit: as for the pre salary cap mess. I was one of the few that was actually really happy when the firesale of 04 happened. It set us up nicely in the salary cap/while for ticky tack penalties/shootout era
I only wished they traded Tom Poti for a bag of used jock straps back in 2004 :p |

sure brodeur owns lots of the records and is one helluva goaltender, but
roy > brodeur
(I know chimera will agree with me on this one) :) |

because he obviously has his finger on the pulse of the team. he fired the coach in 2000 cause things were going the wrong way and they won the cup...he did it last year and they stormed back to steal the atlantic from the rangers and then sweep the very same rangers in the first round. they were again heading in the wrong direction this year and he fires the coach so they can finish strong and make it to the second round of the playoffs so far. how is that wack?
if you hear lou talk he doesnt try to take the credit for coaching. what he is doing isnt really coaching. he only has the title. he isnt the one changing lines on the bench. if it was possible, pat burns would still be the coach of this team. he was exactly what they needed the year he guided them to the cup in 03. if you are telling me you wouldnt want a gm for your franchise that has a proven record at both the college and pro level, with the 3 cups and divsion titles the devils have had in the last 10+ years, then you really dont know what you are talking about.
i never said that lundqvist isnt going to accomplish a lot but it will pale in comparasion with brodeur. and to address this change of rules thing you spoke of, everyone thought the change in the game would result in both the devils and brodeur suffering. and as you can see he responds by having one of his best seasons statistically. your point does make sense, but i dont think it holds as much weight as you say it does. |

yeah brodeur has maybe done only marginally worse with the new rule changes? i could be wrong. he's probably faced more SOG but that's about it.
lou's a genius i'll give him that. pls fail against the sens :) |
