Hey all. i was just wondering what instruments you guys use for basslines, and what techniques you guys use. Im not haveing much luck using vanguard. Ive got my pattern but i just cant get the right sound (a real guitar bass sound like stoneface and terminal) Any ideas??

guitars can be emulated with square waves, slow pwm and proper amp/filter envs.

Micro Modular VST

Arturia Analog Factory

Void Modular System

The analog factory has some nice jazzy/guitar emulated bassline sounds which with a bit of eq'ing and editing can come out nice. The modular systems are just really fun and make great stuff.
cybernetica
For clean 303 style basses I use Audiorealism Bassline.

Synapse Hydra has a good bass preset called "Saw Bass I".

VB-1 can produce some nice bass sounds with some EQ and filtering.

Sometimes I use ReFX Vanguard.

For the best "real" bass guitar sound you probably get Spectrasonics Trilogy. NI Absynth has some good bass presets too.
Subtle
Arturia 2600 makes some nice basslines, although kinda hard to program

Trilogy makes very nice basslines, especially when you are lucky and the notes fits the bass.

even Atmosphere has some good bass patches.. warm and clean.

But other than that I am still looking for a favorite synth for basslines.

most synths will produce good basslines, its really how u eq, compress, layer, fx etc.....

I used V-Station for a ton of tracks. It's awesome for low octave sawtooth basses. Recently though, I've been using Albino and my Virus for my basses. The patches I've made just seemed to come out a lot phatter and full sounding.
