texting in lecture

if you're going to text in class,

a) at least attempt to hide it
b) sit in the back row

some kids here are rude as hell texting in the front row ( or front rows) in lecture...i've seen it in a lot of the classes i have takebn/taking. when i text people, i hide the phone behind my binder or i put it near my knees so the professor doesn't see. i don't know why the professors don't say anything. i'd call them out on it.

same thing for reading the college newspaper up in the air while the professor is talking. it looks ignorant as hell.

seriously, college newspapers are boring

Younger adults these days are ing rude as hell. Moron parents they have for not teaching them courtesy and respect.

Oh man in my lecture class first semester of college, it was bad. I always sat in the middle of class so I was able to see down onto the bottom 15 rows, stupid kids.

i don't really see what's the problem. talking in class, well ok, it messes up the concentration of the teacher and can disturb the rest of the people. but writing a quick text? unless you mean messing with the phone during the entire class.

i dont care if my kids text or go on the intarweb in class. As long as they are not bothering other students or being loud, I don't care.

Because it's rude to not give the teacher your attention. Especially in ing post-secondary school where people should know better by now. It's plain disrespectful...it's not about there being any distraction.

I don't know about you, but I'm physically unable to pay attention to the teacher during an entire long class, even if I try hard. Especially those who just go there to read slides and don't explain themselves in an interesting way. If someone texts me and I need to answer, why the hell not? Are we supposed to leave the class for that? I don't see it as rude personally. If I stop giving attention to the teacher for 1 minute, it doesn't mean I disrespect him/her.

we have a lot of people who like to talk and laugh in class and still talk even after the teacher says to quiet down. it's kind of annoying after a while hearing high pitched giggles about the night you had last night doing jello shots.

90% of students who use a laptop in lecture are on aim or looking at a website while typing notes. there is this kid who sits in one of my lectures and plays word scramble. he may as well not attend class.

i admit sometimes i get distracted practice writing kanji during lecture but at least i'm looking like i am paying attention.

whenever i did the newspaper crossword puzzle in class, i always made sure i was towards the back. and had a notebook out, pretending to take notes.

Perhaps the professor should be more interesting?
