George Acosta, Edgar V & Eddie G @ Revolution pics & review

Well, last night saw the return of a State of Mind after a brief 2 month hiatus, having left Spirits in Hollywood, now relocated to Revolution in Fort Lauderdale, where The Chili Pepper once stood.

Me, Eddie G and company got to Revolution very early and found that they had just finished an alternative music concert there. It took them quite some time to set up A State of Mind. They had to move the CDJs and 1200s from another storage to the main stage, where BT performed his laptop symphony last year.

This place has some potential with the inside, as well as the outside. The outside is reminiscent of a mini-amphitheatre and according to a source, can hold up to 3,000 people, the inside, 999.

Now, before Edgar V came on, we had this guy come on a microphone and say "check check check" like 500 times :wtf: Annoying as hell. After he was done...which was like 10 minutes :wtf: another guy who we didn't know who it was on put some music on....first two tracks were

Tiesto - Traffic
Underworld - Born Slippy (Paul Oakenfold remix)

Moron butchered both of these songs by playing with the pitch autistically low. Nice work, schmuck.

After torturing me (and a few others) with commercial grade, cheese whiz house, Edgar V came on. He played a little harder but put on more of that terrace and other grade house that made me...a little less than slightly uncomfortable. Ugh. Sorry bro, but I just can't handle that stuff. I thanked myself for NOT drinking otherwise I would have really been BAD off. Edgar did get a few people dancing than that other nitwit before him. Onto George Acosta.

George came on and delivered a very hard, banging set. Unusual thing was, he didn't play many songs with vocals, but the energy level was very high and he got the crowd going. Def. one of the best sets I ever heard him drop. After him came my close friend Eddie G.

Eddie came on around 3 or so and dropped another one of his trademark all-vinyl sets with tons of energetic bangers and vocals.

Only thing I really had a gripe about this night: there coulda been more people...I dunno...the vibe may need some work but other than that I had a good time. Was great seeing Lis, Anthony, Manny and many others.

Pics coming later.

I honestly thought Edgar's opening set was badass! ON FIRE

his opening sets get better & better! It was really dancey and the crowd was really enjoying it. The house he dropped was the kind I like to hear to start the nite.

As far as Acosta...I am amazed! I honestly didn't expect him to play so good & he really played banging & Discover sounding tracks!

When he dropped This World Is Watching Me (Cosmic Gate remix) I went nuts! He's come a long way and I would say he is worth seeing again!
WOW I'm still in shock lol.

Great nite! A+ music from two great talents.

i eneded up going there because the owner of revolution invited me and my crew to go for a few free bottles upstairs. im in noway a trance fan.. i havent listened to it for years.. im a house head.

however... the music last night was on point. it was very refreshing and reminded me of the days of The Edge in Orlando.

You Trance heads bitch and moan because Miami is dominated by House and you can never hear trance anywhere... I can see why now.

At one point, we were upstairs overlooking the dance floor... and there were 22 guys and not one single girl on the dance floor. I thought I was at Twilo on a gay night.

I hate to say it... but Trance Heads are killing the Trance scene. Get your lazy ing asses up and go support the music you love. If you dont this State of Mind wont last longer than 2 weeks.
