Some friends of mine tried to go to C&C last night, waited in line, and when they got to the front, found out cover was $75 or $45 after 8am, no guest list or anything.
WTF?! |

Yup...they became VERY strict now. Me and my friends were at Stereobar last night and wanted to go out for a smoke..There was a lineup outside, and they told us that we have to wait in line with everybody else to go back in!!.. in retarted...this new fire marshall has got to get off his high horse and stop pooping on our parties. |

You know, the dude is just doing his job.
B/c if something does happen to an overcrowded club like a fire and someone dies, it's his ass on the platter.
Or the club owners are not bribing enough. |

As far as I understand, all they have to do is build some more doors. We're not talking earth-shattering, arse-stretching expense here.
And jacking up the price and removing guest list solves capacity problems, I guess, but it's incredibly alienating for regulars who have built the business up to this point. Of all cities in the world, I would NEVER expect Montreal to have an elitist party scene. |

| The partying elite will consist of those who get there early. Yawn. |

huh
maybe that the 300 pre-sold + 200 paying at the door = max capacity
so its first come first serve for ppl that didint pay in advance.. |

If you're saying that the charge is justified cuz of a "free CD," the CD ain't so free now, is it?
I really don't care so much w/r/t this particular party. If the price was jacked up so high because of too many pre-sales, fewer tickets will be pre-sold in the future. My problem is that a party at Stereo is now well within striking distance of $100 for the night, once you consider water at $5+tip/each, and any extras you might desire/require to make it through to 10AM and beyond. Maybe more. That's ing ridiculous.
I know there's only so much you can do. Capacity enforcement is a problem. I know. These aren't the most expensive parties in the world. I know that, too. Stereo's a business, and people run it for profit. I know that, too, you don't have to remind me. BUT, Montreal's not a "rich city"--that's part of its charm, and part of what keeps it on the cutting edge of culture. It's hard to be a "party city" when you can't afford the parties. |

money aside...getting rid of the guestlist is going to be a hard blow... i think the clientele is going to change now that its a first come first serve thing. most regulars like to go somewhere else first and it kinda sucks for them to most likely be refused entrance if they dont get there early.
there was people lining up outside starting at 1am....
i dunno... we will see how it is in the upcoming few weeks
and it never was 75$ to get in, unless that guy paid an extra for not waiting in the line |
