Virtua Cop was the . I had both games and even had 2 light guns. I used to play with two guns. That was FUN.
I even did that with House of the Dead for the arcade:

This game DEF. needs a PS3/360/Wii port. :eyespop: |

Saturn is the . I think it is probably my fav system I've owned. The 3 button style controller was great for 2D fighters.
I heard Nights into Dreams my be released on the wii. |

Let us resurrect...I got me a Saturn! A buddy of mine here at school mentioned that he had one with some games, a lightgun, a joystick controller, an arcade joypad controller, and a regular controller (one of the smaller ones released later in the system's life).
I have it all in my possession, and we're gonna talk about what kind of money he deserves. He wasn't really trying to 'sell' me this ...he had it, knew I wanted it, that's that. If there are any game collector type people who can sort of appraise this and tell me what I should rightfully give him, any input would be great.
Games include:
Virtua Cop 1 = Awesome, enough said.
Virtua Cop 2 = Even better, more fun levels and better graphics.
Mortal Kombat 2 = Pretty bareboned for a Saturn game; this was one of the first games to grace Sega's system when it first hit the scene in 1995. The graphics are fine and the gameplay is all there, but considering this is a game on CD-format on a 32-bit system, there is a load that seems to be missing. The only things the announcer says are "FIGHT!" and "FINISH HIM!", and when I choose a character on the selection screen, he doesn't say their name in that classic style we've all come to love.
Obviously these are nitpicks, but they all add up to a pretty lackluster package...you can tell Acclaim merely rushed the game out of the gate in lieu of Sega's impromptu and previously unknown announcement that the Saturn was launching WAY before 3rd party developers knew. Still a fun game though.
Die Hard Trilogy = A very fun 3-in-1 game...none of the games would stand well on their own, but as a package, its pretty fun. The PSone version is graphically superior, though.
Daytona USA = The graphics are absolutely horrendous, but I'll admit that the game is fun. Earlier in the thread, Cap brings up Daytona USA Circuit Edition, a much better Daytona game that does the franchise justice. I'll have to see if I can pick it up.
Soviet Strike = Anybody remember the Strike series? Jungle Strike, Urban Strike, Desert Strike, Soviet Strike, Nuclear Strike? An EA series that was most popular back in the 16-bit days, this helicopter shooter is fun as all hell. The joystick controller works with it, a ing blast!
The House of the Dead = Yep, the original. Is the game fun? Hell yes. Are the graphics utterly ty to the point that you can't really tell what you are looking at? Yep. Part of the reason this Saturn arcade port didn't get very good reviews was merely for the visuals...the game looks awful, and is quite a demonstration of the Saturn's lack of 'prettiness' when it comes to 3-D games. 2-D games, however...completely different story...the one strength the Saturn had over the PSone was its 2-D sprite rendering abilities. House of the Dead doesn't fall in this category, but its fun either way, especially with the lightgun.
Virtua Fighter 2 = The best-selling game of Saturn's entire library, and rightfully so. A great fighter, though Tekken/Dead or Alive fans tend to dislike it. I like em all.
NBA Action 98 = Still haven't played, probably typical 32-bit basketball.
Impact Racing = I had never heard of this until I got it. I have no idea what to expect, still haven't played it yet. |

| I'd give him $55 or so for that package...$60 if the system is in good cosmetic condition. You can pick up loads of cheap games now on Ebay so it is well worth owning. Do some googling for top saturn games, and check gamerankings, metacritic etc for the highest rated games of all time. If you don't mind a few ugly pixels now and then, there is LOTS of good gameplay to enjoy on the ole Saturn. ;) |

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of giving him. Thanks for reinforcing my original idea, lol. None of the games are the 'rare' kind that would sell for ridiculous amounts of money (although HE claimed that House of the Dead in sealed condition could go for over $100), and most of what I have can be found for the $30-$40 range just about anywhere anyway.
Earlier in the thread, RJT mentions that the Saturn was a great system that was just badly managed. That's all it is...this system has plenty of awesome games...the problem is finding them for a reasonable price.
The three games I want the most are...
Dragon Force
Shining Force III
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Do some research, and you'll discover that these three games are probably the most expensive and sought after games the system has to offer. And...they are the three I want. Do the math, and you'll get a ridiculously high number that I'm not even close to willing to pay...so, flea markets are all I got at this point!
But beyond those, there are still plenty of titles I can find that aren't outrageously expensive or hard to find, like Sega Rally Championship and some of the Capcom fighters. Those are the ones I'll have to eye if I want to get any new games for this son of a bitch. |

Keep an eye out for Burning Rangers, Guardian Heroes and Fighters Megamix too. All great games.
P.S. I have Sega Rally and Daytona Championship Edition available. Make me an offer ;)
I also have BUG..one of the first ever 3D platformers, and "D", one of the first horror games. I've got around 10 more in storage that I can't think of and will probably never play again since I have such a huge backlog of PS1 and PS2 games. Let me know if you're interested and I'll dig them out. |

yeah but when the psx came out, they really forced the 3d thing, it got a lot bigger at the time, i mean even command & conquer had to be updated to 3d models instead of sprites before sony would have it iirc. hard to say it's a strength i reckon :p they even continued that trend with the dreamcast as well i think. |

The Saturn was also extremely difficult to program for, and a lot of manufacturers went the Sony route for this reason alone. |
