| for adding effects on your tunes like filters - build the tune back up from bass (low pass filter or whatever) and all the other effects u hear in trance tunes, how do u get this? is it a seperate vst or what? the effects that are imbedded with the bassdrum/synth whatever are too simple (echo etc) there must be a full program that does effects seperately? thanks |

| yeah they are seperate plugins...most programs such as FL, cubase, etc have thier own set of stock plugins but there are tons of others that you can load into your sequencer. |

There are loads of VST synths that can create the standard palette of FX. If you are into weirder types of FX, I recommend Linplug Albino which has a nice randomizer, sometimes it gets you nice sounds, with a little tweaking afterwards.
Then you can of course use some FX plugins to alter the sound greatly. I found that CamelSpace is an awesome plugin for FX when used on any "regular sound" to make it feel spacy, psychedelic and stuff like that. dblue glitch is a plugin to chop things up and make more interesting rythmic patterns out of it. PSP nitro is a very flexible audio mangler. The Ohmforce plugins offer some great possibilities as well. My key to weird and interesting fresh sounds is: Go absolutely crazy on the FX chain.
I found a very special plugin called USB X-Treme FX. It is a sample based synth and has a huge amount of ambiences, pads and FX in its library that you can simply use as they are, or put it through a chain of FX, filter, etc. etc. Awesome plugin but definately not cheap.
Since creating detailed FX takes very much time and since its not everyones cup of tea to work for hours one one single short sound, there are a lot of Sample CDs. Many of the pros use samples in a great way. If its not just copy/paste from a whole sample CD, I would say this is absolutely okay...and definately not lame. Look out for Sample CDs by Sound Ideas, Hollywood Edge, Ueberschall and Killerhertz. |

| The filter thing you are talking about is a simple filter sweep, add a bit of resonance and open the cutoff on a synth. You dont need any extra plugins in addition to your synth. The standard FX setup consists of delay, reverb, phaser, flanger, chrous, ringmodulator, and most host app like cubase or FL has them included, they are used as FX in the mixer. Most better synths have included FX themselves that are set up directly in the instrument. |

cheers. i just got albino a few days ago but i thought its was just a synth thing, i havent looked at all the options, it seems a lot better than vanguard.
i have heard loops and kicks from vengeance essential club sounds 1 and 2 i know are definately used in big trances tunes. from people like ferry corsten (his liberation remix), cosmic gate (ultracurve) and benni bennasi's kickdrum to dj jean (the launch)and a lots of uberdruck/crow stuff is from there so i agree there no same in using stuff like this at all. |
