Vocal samples

For those of you that incorporate samples and such in your sets, I was wondering if any of you knew where to get vocal samples. Specifically, maybe 30 sec to a minute of spoken word, something philosophical and or uplifting.
Any suggestions or help is appreciated...thanks!

I second this request, although for preachy vocals Defected just released "Defected Acapellas" Volumes 1-4. Each volume is supposed to have a different theme, such as divas, etc, and one of them is supposed to have preacher samples. Also, if you're looking for Top40 acapellas/hooks, they are usually included on one version of the vinyl single, while another version has the remixes...

Down in the USA deep south actual sermon tapes are given away for free (sort of like a demo tape for churches:D ) with lots of samplable material. I'll see if I can get a rip of one of them for you guys.

Yeah same. I like to grab samples from movies and tv shows. But 4 volumes of just voice samples would be a big help.

i probably play the monologue from halfway through human traffic way more than i should

the one that has the words "we're in the clouds now, we're spacemen, orbiting the earth... the view is lovely from up here... we're nympholeptics, desiring the unattainable....we're part of a movement.. we're in rhythm...i wish this was real..." etc

great for afterhours

also, i remember once i played this frat party where my partner and i decided to play ing hard trance at the end just because we could, and we made this 10 minute edit in audacity of the track eclipse by fred baker. I basically took the dane cook bit "ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR ING MIND?" and then put it in right before the buildup drops. there is a fake-me-out right before the hard drop and then in the silence, right before it hits hard I put in "YOU REALLY ARE OUTTA YOUR ING MIND" and then put a 1/4 beat delay on it lasting a few sec so MIND MIND MIND MIND sounds like it's being compressed by the beats. lol

then I played this track called on cocaine

the frat boys ate it up. as soon as they heard dane cook it didn't matter that they were listening to hard trance

Lol...that's awesome.

I would kill for an edit of that :p

I also like using movie samples. Sound bytes from the Matrix movies are an obvious pick, but even using "Ahh Yeah Baby" from Austin Powers can give a funky track some extra "kick"

that's something i'd like to know too. my computer at least won't record if i plug the digital out from my dvd player into the digital in of my sound card. probably cuz there's some gay encoding to protect it there! :whip:
i've also tried playing the dvd on my computer and plugging a cable from the digital out to the digital in of my sound card, but the sound is all scrambled and ed up and i've tried every setting to fix it, but i just can't do it.

The easiest way with Windows is to open the volume control (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control), go Options -> Properties, select "Recording" then click ok, then tick the Select box underneath the "Stereo Mix" channel.

Then your audio editor will record whatever's coming out of your speakers at the time, so pause your DVD just before the bit you want to nick, set it recording then hit play.
