What if I dont want vista?

I want to buy a laptop, but I don't want vista on it, cuz i want it to work well with my regular pc, and all the music software.
All i have for an xp install disk is that purple one that dell computers come with.
Where can i get laptops without vista? In vancouver area if possible... |

Honestly, it's become a task seeing as how Microsoft is full-force with Vista now. Possibly if you construct your own laptop via some online company? Or maybe you can find an XP laptop on newegg.com?

A downgrade (Dell-specific, too) might not fare so well. Did you talk with the guys in our Tech forum? |

Vista is just MSFT's ploy to change market practices and to get new revenue since they have been lax in that area for some time since XP's release. Not to mention the drastic change in hardware thats required to run vista at current speeds xp can run at.
It requires you to upgrade your video card to a DX10 256MB model, 5GB HDD space, and 1GB PC400 or greater system memory. At current industry prices that will put a computer up around 900 bucks when it should be 500 or so with moores law factored in there. |
