It was the best when I ran a guestlist there for awhile. I hooked up all my friends and saved myself so much money |

Interestingly, I'll be in the Boston area in early June, so maybe I'll have a chance to see some of the changes.
Strange that I should be asking - What other clubbing spots should I hit up? |

| Luke Fair is at Rise June 1st. Not sure of any other big nights...PVD is supposed to be playing at Avalon June 15th as well. Im not sure when these rennovations are supposed to take place. Everything will stop at Avalon/axis im assuming at some point during the summer. |

Ya, i saw this article last week...... I think it could be good for the boston clubbing scene in regards to the acts they book. They might be able to book a few more big time DJ's, and the set up should be pretty sick. However, after the inital interest in the new place dies down, i'm not sure if this club will last....
But i'm always down with change, esp long over due change.
I didnt start going to avalon until 2002 at the end of my freshmen year in colllege for Oakey...I think i remember he sucked ass that night, and the place was packed. But, it was dream come true to see him live after listening to his essential mixes for like 9 months straight. |

wow reading this thread just reminds me that I have NOT been back to boston in YEARS...i just remember that WHOLE area being horrible for finding parking as well as major traffic jams esp. when there is a home game. The way they planned that area was not the greatest imo.
anyway...i did not know that Avalon and Axis were connected to begin with? I thought they were a few buildings apart. Then again, I could be wrong. :conf: So what will happen to Embassy (the hiphop club next door to Avalon - which i despise btw ahah), is that going to be absorbed?
Def some good times there while visiting friends in Boston between 2003-2005 :toothless. ON some level i always thought the Avalon in Boston was MUCH better planned/constructed than what became of the one in NYC.
I may be there for PVD in June, not sure yet.
hmm wonder if they will put in a new LASER system in the new club. :D now THATS an idea... |

Fenway has been there since 1912 so theres only so much you can do with the space planning wise with the traffic especially since they are not the widest roads. The parking is always going to be a problem. The noobs get stuck on lansdowne after 2am. Avalon is connected to axis. That's part of the appeal that it used to have because there would be two headlining big name edm djs that you could walk back and forth between the rooms. |

Guys, I am ANCIENT!
I remember when Avalon was Metro and Axis was Spit!
That was back in the late eighties, early nineties. Metro was the first real club I ever went to and I'll never forget strapping on my spike heel Fluevogs and black bustier to party the night away.Fridays at Avalon were Guido heaven so I ended up at Axis most of the time. I still have the promotional cd The Shamen gave out at one of their gigs at Venus de Milo.
I was more into Ska and stuff like that I went to a million Toasters shows and dated a guy named Boots who was the lead singer in a local ska group called Mr. Cranky. The relationship was short lived as was the band.
I was at loads of loft parties and underground after hours clubs. Dickie from the Bosstones was always misbehaving and getting the cops called. Those were the days.
I'm sure the Lyons Bros. will do what they've always done, spiff everything up a bit, make it a little more average and make lots of money. |

The Shamen!!!!
hahaha wow theres a name from back in the day
"Ebeneezer Goode"
As far as Clubs on Lansdowne st go i am relatively new to Boston so it sounds like i missed some great parties :(
The new structure in my opinion is going to cater to bands more that club nights. It is also going to be all one structure, which is something they have wanted to do for a while now.
As a function space it’s always better to have a big room and be able to break it up than vice versa (which is the case now) it is also an attempt to steal big business from venues like agganis (Boston universities hockey rink)
It also states that the sound system is going to be better than all the combined clubs just now so that’s a plus.
I am not necessarily saying what is happening is a good thing i am just saying that its needs a change - way over due
i just hope they don't soley bring in major acts such as tiesto , PVD etc - but it looks like that maybe the case |
