Yes because it's seems as though I'm the only normal one enough to do so. So I wanted to know if there were any other normies.

I can relate. The two major ones I had end were ing disastrous and required significant medical (read: chemical) attention.

You're kidding right? I'd much rather be able to deal sans substances rather than have to depend on them.

You really think that's normal?

And even then - is normal really a good thing?

You're mistaking chemical dependence for freely choosing to blur your misery with the aid of fun chemicals.

There's a world of difference there.

I don't think it is really intentional for a lot of people. I mean, you socially drink right?

Well when I broke up with my ex, I would go out with friends, and they would encourage the drinking, and then once I started to feel a little better, I drank more. It very easily, and quickly can become exessive. You don't conciously think about it, but psychologically we are inclined to continue doing something if it gives us some relief from the sorrow.

I never thought to myself "I should get tanked to drown my sorrows". It was more like... I already did a lot of partying back then in the first place, so it seemed normal to me, but it quickly became an outlet to relieving the "pain".

LOL we are guys. we resort to substances (drugs, alcohol, whatever) to get over it. its just the way we are. alcohol is normally the substance of choice but not always. its the one that more often than not makes you forget about it all...mostly cause your hung over and you are concentrating on getting over the hangover lol

Bugger being normal, How boring!! How can you be an individual if you follow everyone else around like a conformist sheep. Chaos is alot more interesting than anal sausages on a stick!

I socially drink to have fun, not to make my probs go away. but they way the usage of it was being used in this thread was not to just have fun....

I was just asking, no need to jump on my back . :)
