as for Mumbai, i think they just rearranged the letters in Bombay


Actually, when the Portugese arrived there in the 16th century they named it Bombaim, then when the British colonized India they just simply changed it to Bombay. Mumbai is a derived from a hindu goddess named Mumbadevi
