Thats the problem, those boring generic trance pieces like that gets the uplifting stamps, while more original melodic pieces of trance doesnt get called uplifting.

Here are my samples of what I think is uplifting trance:

Astral Projection - Electric Blue

Signum - Second Wave

Body Shock - Full Moon

Matanka - Lost In A Dream (Push Remix)

Push vs Globe - Tranceformation

I am just sick and tired of people generalising certain type of tunes as uplifting, while uplifting itself is different from person too person.. those tracks i mentioned arent uplifting ? to me this is uplifting trance.. these kinds of tracks gives me goosebumps all over.. and almost lifts me to another dimension at times.

Uplifting trance as we know it today, is only for those who LIKE that kinds of tracks, and not a way of generalising those certain tracks.

People who are looking for uplifting trance these days, are simply looking for melodic easy to like, ASOT.. generic trance by numbers kind of music.

Uplifting trance has become its own genre.. overused ideas, standard melodic progressions, arrangement, unoriginality.. now THATS uplifting trance as we know it.. and its a shame

Those are uplifting and I agree that there is more to uplifting trance music than ASOT, though a lot of those you listed are still..stuff played by the big name trance DJs. I don't think they sound that much different than the other stuff. As I said, something can be progressive and uplifting, it can be tech and uplifting, it can be hard and uplifting, it can be psy and uplifting. Uplifting just describes the feeling of the track. Uplifting means "it makes you feel good" essentially. I personally don't equate uplifting with "dark", it's "light" sounding music...angelic, heavenly, beautiful, euphoric or positive in nature.

But I understand that it's subjective as well. What I might find uplifting is different from what you find uplifting. I find euphoric and melodic tracks with symphonic like breakdowns or light sounding melodies to be uplifting, with lots of energy as well. Or just simply gorgeous sounding tracks like Hydra's "Affinity (Thrillseekers Mix)", or Solar Stone's "Seven Cities", those define uplifting IMO, but aren't quite over-the top uplifting tracks like that Soul Cure I put as an example. What i'm saying, is that it's a feeling, and that commonly it's referred to as stuff that lifts the spirits, is almost inspirational.

And Ishkur's guide is a fantastic joke. :disbelief

And that's fine, I call it melodic trance as well. But there is a definite sub-genre that would be described as "epic", stuff that is between 136 and 142 BPM, build ups, breakdowns, lots of energy...lots of melody. To me, a lot of trance is "melodic".

Its a lot more driving and sounds more techy.
He goes over the top in the breakdown, leaving it to build for far too long, but you can soon edit it out.

thanks for the info from my side as well. i am already downloading the stuff you mentioned. You will say maybe that i am too lazy or that i am not a real "trance addict", but, if i have a chance to get music by downloading it and not pourchasing it, why not take advantage of it? (only today i downloaded about 350 trance tracks)

Most of you guys have the advantage of living in countries where trance is more evolved and you have a lot of big parties every month, every year (england, netherlands, germany, czech republic, poland). I have the advantage of easy downloading all sorts of stuff for free.

Melodic, epic, euphoric, uplifting or anthem trance is the one and the same. In the 90s i also knew it as euro-trance.
