i'm djing tomorrow, for an elementry school (outdoor jump rope thing) i wanna play some cool music, but nothing to far out of the box.

For the more mainstream sound, i'd ask that you list away some great house remixes of rock/alternative etc. songs!

you can also list anything else you may think would blend in good with this set...thanks!

gwen stefani - cool (photek remix)
nelly furtado - do it (no remix, but the album cut has a housey tempo easy to mix and kinda cool at some parts. would be a good track to take you into some housey stuff)

check out some josh patrick too.
he does some decent white label stuff.
rock and pop remixes.

how into rock do you think elementary school kids would be though?
there are a lot of rock tunes that were popular for our generation that have some nice remixes,
but id wonder if elementary school kids have ever heard any of them.
push some pop remixes on them though, that they can sing along to and see how they respond. id be interested to see their reactions.

^ they'd actually surprise you! I've been teaching for a couple years, and a lot of kids are into the beatles and 70's rock groups, because their parents are from that generation. Even the 90's grunge scene a lot of them are quite familiar with.

when i was with a grade 4 class, i asked them who watches full house, cause one of the kids happened to have the dvd, and everyones hand went up. Seems as if theres no good shows these days like back when we all grew up, and todays generation is growing up on the stuff we had. Pretty interesting.
