The parents of a baby that died of starvation after being fed a vegan diet have been found guilty of malice murder, felony murder and first degree cruelty to children.
Jade Sanders, 27, and Lamont Thomas, 31, will get an automatic life sentence for the death of their 6-week-old infant, Crown. After being fed a diet largely consisting of soy milk and apple juice, he weighed only 3 1/2 pounds when he died.
The Fulton County jury deliberated the case for about seven hours.
Prosecutors said it was a chilling case of murder by starvation, a painful and prolonged death. Attorneys representing Sanders and Thomas told jurors the first-time parents did the best they could while adhering to their vegan lifestyle. Vegans typically live free of animal products.
"They're not vegans, they're baby killers," Fulton prosecutor Mike Carlson told the jury Tuesday during his closing arguments.
The couple's attorneys said they didn't realize their baby, born at home, was in danger until minutes before he died. |

| This is just SICK! How can a parent not know that their 6 week old child is not healthy when the baby weighed 3.5 lbs?!?!?! I hope they rot in prison! JMHO. |

| There's just not enough nutrients in a vegan diet for an infant. How sad this had to happen and the parents had to find out the hard way. I even doubt if they were feeding the kid a decent portion. |

I have to side with the Veganism being the cover story. It's blatantly obvious they didn't want and/or care about the child. appealing the issue, they should be shot. |

| No Vegans are that stupid. All Vegans are well researched/informed and know not to mess with a newborn baby's diet until they're older and able to take in solid foods, then they can start to introduce vegan food. Clearly she did not want the baby in the first place and starved the baby to death. While in prison they should feed her a diet of soy and apple juice exclusively. see how long she lasts. This saves the prison money and send her to hell faster. i have no tolerant for baby killers! :whip: |

Seriously. And what's wrong with mom's breast milk? If they are so into being "healthy" and all natural, why no breast milk?? |

down with vegans. they don't want to kill poor little animals but killing a baby is ok. j/k
i just can't get over the fact that vegans are willing to kill millions of living plants but not animals to eat. no logic in that...
but yea, this is a sad story. off with their heads. |
