Ron Paul chances? (pg. 7)

I can't believe these people who keep saying Ron Paul blamed America for the attacks. You obviously have a hard sense of hearing, or bad comprehension skills. Watch the Bill Maher video, even he knows whats going on.

Now for some more in depth information.

Article about us giving Iraq the weapons they used on the Kurds, which explains that we kept sending them even after we knew they were gassing people.

Heres some wonderful quotes.

quote:
Reports by the US Senate's committee on banking, housing and urban affairs -- which oversees American exports policy -- reveal that the US, under the successive administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr, sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992, as well as germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia. Other bacteria sold included brucella melitensis, which damages major organs, and clostridium perfringens, which causes gas gangrene.

quote:
The shipments to Iraq went on even after Saddam Hussein ordered the gassing of the Kurdish town of Halabja, in which at least 5000 men, women and children died. The atrocity, which shocked the world, took place in March 1988, but a month later the components and materials of weapons of mass destruction were continuing to arrive in Baghdad from the US.

Do the research before you say anything, otherwise you are not credible.

And about the whole gay bashing thing with Ron Paul. The man believes in separation of federal and state government. I guarantee he believes it's your choice. Go read more information on him and not a single excerpt.

If you are gay, and ever want a chance for marriage, don't expect the first tier candidates to ever help you period. If it was up to state government I guarantee you would have a much better chance.

That is all.

Hardtranceprod, watch every single one of his videos on youtube. Read up on the IRS, the Homeland Security, the National Sales Tax, and the oh so great Federal Reserve. Wiki or google them.

The problem is we were all brought up having these systems in place, and we think we wouldn't know what to do without them. Think of in 50 years when our sons and daughters have homeland security raping them of their hard earned money so we can defend against these so called terrorists.

They will probably also think where would I be without the homeland security I would feel so helpless, and not protected.

Sometimes change is good, read the constitution it will change your thinking.

My two biggest issues this election are fiscal responsibility and a moral foreign policy. That said, Paul is the perfect candidate. However, he equates a moral foreign policy with an almost non-existant one, and that's where I disagree. Where he argues to immediately withdraw from the UN and other foreign global governance institutions... I'd argue to utilize them to a greater degree in an effort to reach out to global consensus on international issues. Instead of rescinding American interests abroad, I think we should rather shift them to becoming global interests abroad.

Paul has me really stuck. I love what he says 95% of the time, but can't stomach the other 5%. So I'm still firmly in Biden's camp in 08. But for a virulent Democrat to even consider a Republican is a minor coup I should think. And Paul's turning a lot of heads in the Democratic party as well.

If you are having any doubts about Paul, read this incredible speech he gave in the House of Representatives last night. It lasts 24 minutes on Google video, but you can probably read the whole thing in 5.

By the time he was done, all I could think was...

Wow.

Ron Paul Assigns Reading to Giuliani

quote:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Longshot Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul (news, bio, voting record) on Thursday gave front-runner Rudy Giuliani a list of foreign-policy books to back up his contention that attacks by Islamic militants are fueled by the U.S. presence in the Middle East.

"I'm giving Mr. Giuliani a reading assignment," the nine-term Texas congressman said as he stood behind a stack of books that included the report by the commission that examined the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

Giuliani was mayor of New York when Islamic militants slammed two commercial airliners into the World Trade Center, a role that has vaulted him to the front of the Republican presidential pack despite his liberal social positions.

"I don't think he's qualified to be president," Paul said of Giuliani. "If he was to read the book and report back to me and say, 'I've changed my mind,' I would reconsider."

Paul advocates a limited U.S. foreign policy, including an end to the war in Iraq and a reduction in troop levels abroad.

Paul said he was unfairly attacked during last week's debate by 10 Republican presidential hopefuls, when Giuliani dismissed his contention that U.S. policies in the Middle East had contributed to the attacks in New York and Washington.

"I don't think I've ever heard that before, and I've heard some pretty absurd explanations for September 11th," Giuliani said to wild applause.

A spokeswoman for Giuliani derided Paul's latest comments.

"It is extraordinary and reckless to claim that the United States invited the attacks on September 11th," Maria Comella said in an e-mail.

"And to further declare Rudy Giuliani needs to be educated on September 11th when millions of people around the world saw him dealing with these terrorist attacks firsthand is just as absurd."

OUTSIDE THE MAINSTREAM

Paul barely registers in opinion polls of Republicans hoping to win their party's nomination to contest the November 2008 presidential election.

An obstetrician-gynecologist from the Houston area, Paul frequently strays far outside the Republican mainstream.

He voted against the Iraq war resolution in 2002 and has proposed abolishing the Homeland Security Department and diminishing the Federal Reserve. His 1988 bid for president as the Libertarian candidate drew just slightly more than 400,000 votes nationwide.

Paul said it was irresponsible of Giuliani and other leaders to not examine the motivations of al Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups.

Among the books on Paul's reading list were: "Dying to Win," which argues that suicide bombers only mobilize against an occupying force; "Blowback," which examines the unintended consequences of U.S. foreign policy; and the 9/11 Commission Report, which says that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was angered by the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia.

Another book on the list was "Imperial Hubris," whose author appeared at the press conference to offer support for Paul.

"Foreign policy is about protecting America," said author Michael Scheuer, who used to head the CIA's bin Laden unit. "Our foreign policy is doing the opposite."

A Giuliani campaign official could not confirm whether he had read any of the books on Paul's list.

More liberty is always good. In a free society, government should stay out of our personal lives AND out of our wallets.

Though I don't agree with you, I really appreciate your discussion style in this thread. What you're saying makes sense to me, and does make me question where I stand. But in the end, I think the difference is this -- positive liberty and negative liberty. The right, through it's military and censorship policies seeks to constrain liberty. The left, through social welfare programs, seeks to increase the ability of the least well-off citizens to live a life of liberty. I'm not articulating well, but I think the difference is the ends of republicanism/liberalism: common good v. individual self-interest.

I am a common good guy. I believe that government exists as a republican (little r) institution that preserves and promotes the common good, rather than as a liberal (little l) tool to protect one's ability to pursue self-interest. As such, I think social welfare programs, though grossly mismanaged in this country, can be and sometimes are a positive component of government. However, I can easily see how the bloated nature of some of those programs in America would lead one to oppose them altogether.

That said, I agree with Ron Paul in regards to government bureacracy - especially in Education, Defense, and Homeland Security - bigger government does not lead to greater efficiency. Paul is right to point out that the creation of a massive bureacracy to deal with security issues is completely antithetical to actual security. I mean, Hamilton's argument for a strong executive rested largely on these grounds as well - swift action requires the absence of a large bureacratic malaise.

He's definitely against our illegal, privately owned Federal Reserve and it's collection service.

culorut
Ron Paul knows exactly what is going on, from the Federal Reserve, 9/11 inside job and everything else in between. This is exactly why they constantly leave him out of polls and do not cover him like the rest in the mass media. (propaganda machine)

It is backfiring badly though, the more they ignore him the more attention he receives.
