| I would bet my house that DJ Dan didn't play a single Electro track. You could have saved us all a lot of time by simply posting 'I am an idiot who doesn't really know what I'm on about' because that is basically the message your post screams of. |

@ Mikey Mike.. I keep forgetting how "particular" some of us are about precise genre descriptions... he played Electro-house, not Electro... and he played it badly.
@ RJT, No I cede to thee. You are the voice of the fool multitude. |

I've never heard of him before he entered the DJ Mag Top 100, and I think a lot of others at that time didn't either... That's what I made up from the reactions on his 5th place in each case |

DJ Dan's ranked #5 in the world. Top house DJ in the list... and he's come out of nowhere. So when I heard he was playing at a club in Shanghai, I just HAD to go hear him play.
So I went. Super super club called G Plus... piss perfect soundsystem and acoustics (despite being covered in mirrors); but 75% of the dance floor was occupied by high tables and bar stools.
Strange. Especially since most tables were unoccupied. Maybe it's a Shanghai cultural thing
Dan was already playing when I walked in, and I heard his set for an hour and a half. It was the most purile crap I've ever heard from an globally renowned DJ. Wearing a hat, not looking up, not smiling.. and playing funky house. He then moved to electro; his transitions were awful for a dj his "calibre".
Really makes me wonder about is ranking and how the fcuk that DJ Mag system works. By the time he finished his set, he'd lost about 40% of the crowd from the floor and the club. His last 30 minutes were particularly bad. Nobody noticed him leave, nor did they give a damn. Either the Chinese didn't dig him, or they just generally don't get it... EDM, that is. Hip hop is H U G E L Y popular there.
What a waste of a great club and time.:sadgreen: |
yeah too bad you had a ty time.....better luck next time
....and I go by this top Dj list.....check it out

Says the person who believes that the DJ Mag rankings are an even remotely accurate description of the club scene. |

I'm sorry Sherlock, but how exactly did you infer that from my posts? Maybe you've never gone to hear a dj you were curious about, and maybe you've never been disappointed. I did, and I was... and thats all there is to this thread i started.
@ Limon, I hope you washed your hands. :)
For the record, I've booked djs like j00f, Ferry and San because they're pure talent, not because of where they rank. |
