TIESTO @ THE NORTH ATLANTA TRADE CENTER | Friday September 14th 2007 (pg. 16)

The sound system was sick. The smell of idiots was miasmal. Ian had the only up I noticed of the night where it sounded like he accidentally hit a fader for the cued track and decided to just go with it which was utterly jarring. Tijs had quick mixes as to be expected, and the video part to the show is mind-blowingly stupid. Believe it or not, the e-tards were the most fun to hang around simply because they weren't retarded, drunk Tijsfags. The crowd itself was awful, and to stand in it was to dehydrate yourself both physically and mentally. Ian's set was alright, and Tijs set was decent in my opinion, but then again I didn't really spend too much time listening to it intently since I was actually mingling about.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were people that needed to be rushed to by the EMTs. There were PLENTY of pills around, and PLENTY of people on them. I met one of the guys selling them and he was selling them at a decent price for a club ($15), and they apparently were potent enough because the back third of the club that was sitting down were all ed out of their heads.

The Asian dude in the white shirt doesn't look all that ed up, Jk. I think he is impersonating me at a show. That's my stee occasionally.

so basically, unless you were there just to dick around and have fun with friends, it sounds like you HAD to get ed up to enjoy the show :p

Basically. When you actually took your attention away from the music, the music wasn't so bad -_-

Funniest part of the night was the wait in line. I was up towards the front and with a group of already drunk, clueless, and devoted Tijsfags. One guy said "I'm new to this techno thing, does Tiesto have any tracks better than 'Sandstorm'?". Then the other three guys in front of him started saying that Tiesto was their idol, "no one is better, I mean, look at how large the crowd is, Tiesto is god", that "Armin is getting better, he used to suck", and then yelling at the Liquified lady who was trying to get people to sign up for their email spam brigade saying that "Tiesto hasn't been here in five years and your site said so!".

For some reason, two out of five of those guys kept running into me at the club too. They just would not go away.

i was there with 6 friends... we showed up at 12:50 and the line was huuuuuuge. i mean it was really long. luckly 5 out of the 7 of us had vip so i just walked right up to one of the police officers and he let all 7 of us in immediately. got into the stage area, made our way to the center front, directly underneath that circular air vent and stayed there from 1:00 - 4:00. tijs literally went on 5 minutes after we got inside so the timing was perfect... managed to leave during the last 20 seconds of adagio and got a taxi immediately, so that all worked out fine and dandy. too bad i never went to the vip section and too bad i never used any of my drink tickets... from what i heard they stopped serving alcohol around 2. also, if my math is correct, tijs didn't play anywhere near the advertised length.

oh and now i'm deaf... it was loud!

highlight for me was saltwater - the legacy (alphazone remix).

Yeah, the set up / sound was pretty impressive, but I think if we weren't just hanging out and drunk / otherwise inebriated it would have sucked. It was an experience, though... I'll take that sound system in my car.

Oh yeah, I think everyone who entered one of those restrooms should go get their health checked now =P

lol, good review promo, thats kinda how i figured itd be. glad you could still have a good time. people need to realize tiesto isnt the same but you can still have fun as long as you dont expect some legendary set.

I knew to stay away from the bathrooms. 5,000 drunken 'tards pissing and ting all over a condensed area just isn't my forté. I was wondering if they had televisions above the urinals so you could keep watching Tijswrecks, but apparently this was not the case.

As for the sound. It was GREAT during Ian's set. They turned it up needlessly loud during Tiesto's set which kinda muffled the quality. This was probably done on purpose. Because during Ian's set I could quite literally hear even the slightest bass mismatch. Tiesto's set seemed almost flawlessly mixed, and I can only attribute that to the sound being muffled due to loudness.

I loved how during Ian's set they kept using the itunes visual effects on the giant televisions. It worked better than Tiesto's horses, command-prompt crap, and random Asian lady doing facial expressions, but they had to keep fading out of it when the Apple logo would appear.

Another thing that annoyed me was every time people started shouting for Tiesto during Ian's set. Even at around 10:30 :wtf:

Then there was this one high-pitched *presumably gay* black guy who roughly every ten minutes would shout "IS THAT HIM?! IS THAT TIESTO?!!"
