the FF4 soundtrack by nobuo uematsu is one of the strongest in the FF series. it's nice to hear the piano version of the love theme.

How much work did you put into 7? I beat it in 32 hours, the ending I got was worth the game-time. Shrug.
FF6 is a poor comparison, FF6 is one of the best endings in videogames, along with Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. FF7's ending is just flashy graphics (for their time).
LOL @ getting whupped by Sin, and you're not even fighting Jecht yet? I suggest you go kill some mobs to make your characters more powerful. X is a 36 hours first-run for me, and that was wasting 3 hours at the end leveling up to fight Jecht.
FF7 is not the pinnacle gaming quality, just as an FYI, it was just the first mega-marketed video-game and it worked out because of the flashy graphics in the CGI scenes. Otherwise, it's just an FF6 remake with a new (also note: worse) story.

FF4 DS is definitely coming home with me ^_^ The first FF I ever played and STILL my favourite.

Disagree ;)
I don't know what it is about the game...but the way the story came together...the locales throughout the game...the atmosphere...the music...It just blew me away.
I've played all of the FF games from 6-12, and despite it's minor problems I still like FF7 the best.

FF7 really isn't that great. The plot is weak, the pace of the story is too slow, the choppy 3d sprites on the CGI backgrounds don't mesh well, and limiting your party to 3 characters is a step BACKWARDS when it comes to battling. Personally I'm a big fan of FF4's crazy 5-member active-time battle system. FF7 brought nothing new to the series that hadn't already been done, the only difference between FF7 and FF6/FF4 is that FF7 was 3d. Shrug.
As far as RPGs go, Chrono Trigger is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of RPG greatness. Yeah, like FF7, you only get 3 party-members at a time, but at least in CT you can do team-moves.
My personal favourite RPG, however, is Earthbound :)

ahem, FF7 is ing great! plz don't call it weak. I've invested probably more than 150 hours with that thing, no kidding! You're right about Chrono Trigger though, ing amazing! I just wish it would've been longer. And I wish the area with the supposed greatest weapons in Zeal wasn't sealed:(

i agree 100%
out of all the FFs, FF7 is the most emotionally engaging. at the end of disc1 when you're fighting the last boss after the surprise, it actually feels like you're fighting for something. and yes, i shed a tear.

FF is the only reason I would get a DS, and IV was my very first FF, as well as my very first RPG.
