Jennifer Rene - Club Bent, FW - 5.12.07 - Review and Pics

This last Saturday, I thought I should get out a little bit since last week was so stressful. Jennifer Rene was DJing and Singing at a club called Bent, in downtown Ft Worth. A new buddy of mine, Jake, and I went to go see her. I knew it was going to be an awesome night since we all were buddies to begin with, but this was my first time meeting her in person.
We get there a little early that evening because we thought Jen may need some of Jake's DJ equipment. So we were going to get there early so she could get setup and prepared. After making it to ft worth, a couple wrong turns on 1-way streets, and walking all over downtown with DJ tables in our arms, we finally find Club Bent. :mrgreen:
Come to find out, she didn't need any of the stuff we brought. Pllthh! ;)
I watched as Jen played around on the tables, getting everything ready and prepared. This was her first real DJ gig, ya know! And being her very first DJ gig, and to be the headliner had to be a huge step!! So she was a little bit nervous, but I knew she would turn it into positive energy, and she did. She's very fun, great personality, optimistic, and confident. It was so wonderful to finally get to meet her.
And even though I know nothing about the tables, she cued up a song for me, got it at the right bpm, handed me the headphones and let me chose the right time to bring in the next song. I just hit the one button, but it was addictive from there. It was just so exciting! And to the DJs that hang out on this forum, I know that sounds lame, whatever :rolleyes: It was a blast, and I need to keep bugging Jake to teach me to mix. He taught Jen alot about DJing, so I'd know I'd have a great tutor. Damn, I should of got a pic of me with the phones on. I wonder if they were me? Was told all girls look good in Sony's, so I guess I was rockin' 'em okay. LOL
We hung out for a little while during the warmup DJ's set. And the drinks were coming - so I knew I had to slow down if I wanted to even remember any of her set. :lol:

Jen getting prepared to sing Louder. Jake helped adjust her mic while she sang. Seems like depending on what the bass was doing at different times, her mic had to be readjusted throughout.

I always thought being a DJ took alot of talent. But being a DJ and sing at the same time is just amazing! This guy that was hanging out would tap me on the shoulder and say "Seriously, is she singing?".....Yes....."But she's a DJ too, right?".....Yes....."So she's singing and DJing?"......Yes....."Wow, I can't believe that. That's awesome!".....And I'm thinking....hey, lets stop talking and listen! LOL
She also performed I Wouldn't Change a Thing. Which I'm sure I was annoying, because I couldn't help but sing along behind her (just incase she needed the help)...I just love that song. LOL

And these pics didn't come out well at all. These are taken from across the club and on the dance floor. The DJ booth is really high up on another level. So look, you'll see Jen. :D
As far as what she played, it was all mainstream trance with some club dance. Some Armin(White Sands, Love You More), Gabriel & Dresden(Zocalo, Tracking Treasure), Above & Beyond - Good For Me, iiO -Rapture, Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms, and some popular dance songs kicking at the moment, (Scream, Discoteca....etc). Funny thing about Love You More, it was the finale, the very last song, and it kicked in and everyone was really going for it. The people were all for it, and then some dude, maybe the owner or someone said it's time to close and told her to shut it off. So she had to cue it off right at "Clouds above go sailing by...." Of course, the music dies down, and I'm singing away like an idiot LOL....
And Jen and Armin made a new song together, and OMG, I can't wait for it to come out! She played it and it was just beautiful, I loved it! So everyone look for a new JenRen song coming out soon!
It was a great party, and I had a blast! I highly recommend! |

| Bent doesn't really promote, it doesn't really have to. It gets packed every Saturday regardless. It just relies on its normal crowd over here in FW. Every once in a while, they will bring in a DJ on a Saturday night to create a vibe, although it's usually a House DJ. |
