What is healthcare design?

On topic:

Right now I'm finishing up my comp sci degree, while working on an internship. I've realized comp sci is what I do best, and I more or less like it, so this is my career of choice for now. I have a broad spectrum of jobs that I can do with that degree, but ideally I would like to get into software engineering with a graphics aspect, as I really enjoyed that in a course I took.

At the same time, I can see myself doing many other things for my career - automotive engineering, psychology, teaching, or even entrepreneur. There are so many things that I'd want to do that sometimes I find myself doubting whether or not comp sci is really the right choice because my heart is pulled in so many different directions. But, I'm sticking with comp sci for now, and if later down the line I decide I don't like it anymore, I'll just switch to something else that I wanted to do.

It is the interior design and architecture of healthcare facilities. There is going to be a massive demand for facilities because of the aging baby boomers in Canada. Currently there arent very many nice hospitals here, and many baby boomers would be willing to pay for such a service I am sure.

Here is an example of a dental clinic in Berlin that I love.....

You would be the perfect person to ask about this. The current healthcare facilities in Canada have a long way to come even when it comes to functionality, do you agree? We went on a tour recently of a hospital where the grab bars in the washrooms were not usable, and the showers were not wheelchair accessible. Horrible !

The older places for sure! The facility where I did my clinical placement had both old and new wings. The new wings were fantastic, but the old wings weren't built for all the new equipment we use now, like recliner wheelchairs and lifts and such.

I went to school for Environmental Studies and Geography. I wanted to do research and other boring crap but ended up becoming an insurance adjuster and have been at it for over 10 years now. I still want to specialize in environmental insurance claims....but that means even more schooling.....but also means bigger bucks.

I just graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design (I.E. Urban Planning) with a Minor in Architecture.

During my schooling I also learned a great deal of graphic design.

So... I'm currently looking at firms in Toronto in Planning, Branding, and Design. Whatever I get into I want to work my way UP!

My plan is to be one of those $200/hr IT/software consultants. If that fails, maybe IP Law.
