Yes and No. Every country has racist people, from the USA to Brazil, the UK to Spain, Serbia to Turkey. Oman to Iran, Australia to Antartica. The uk took a big stand against it a long time ago in sports and some of the most idolised people in the uk are black or Asian. While we're not perfect we have done more to combat it compared to many places. Whenever we goto Eastern Europe or Southern, with italy, turkey, croatia, greece etc being the worst places, black sportsmen are abused. The problem is that Uefa & fifa are too gutless to take real action. I still don't ever think racism will be wiped out anywhere though and those who think it has/will/could be are misguided, there will always be someone to stir up no matter what side of the fence they're ok |

Rasicm in football is awful. There is this campaign that started a few years ago ,that I fully support, called " Stand Up Speak Up " that has to do with racism across Europe in football.
I have a set of those wristbands. |

Sadly those wristbands became fashion items, from the anti racism, the anti-bullying or the yellow ones from cancer to do with lance armstrong, so people would wear them unaware of what they were standing for |

Racism is a problem of course, but
I hate it how the video is all about how bad europe is. Like america doesn't have these problems.
And when the fans chant and put their hands in the air, that doesn't mean they're saying "hail!", jesus. |

Why? You're a girl in Canada. Do you care about football? Is racism in football any worse than racism outside football? :conf: |

yeah every country has its problems but sorry, over here in america you never hear about crowds at sporting events collectively making monkey noises, throwing banana peels on the field and yelling out racial slurs directed at black players like they do in european soccer games...things like that are absolutely unheard of here and there would be riots...and yes, racism is far worst in europe than it is in the US |

Yeah... plus I had a discussion with a guy who had an anti-rasism one... "why are there two bands one white one black?" "for the different races..." "only one race.. human... what if a white person has a kid with a black person what is the kid? people aklways say black... like it's a mark of being non-white... and what about asian people..." "you think (may have been drink cos I was blazing lol) too much"
Hate people making these 'statements' who don't even think about what they are saying. |

Do I care? That's like asking if Clovis likes beer. It was my life up until 3-4 years ago. Yes, I'm a female in Canada....you're point is? I'm European, I was born in Europe and I'm an avid football player/coach and fan overall. I'm a huge supporter of any anti-racism group or organization so put 2 things together that I support full heartedly, I'm going to take an interest in.
I'm not saying that I think it's better or worse. |
