JOOF: my weekend review

so anyone who knows me and even lurks on the boards knew that i was so excited for this past weekend to get here!!! i hadn't danced to joof's set since october and i was definitely having withdrawls!
friday seemed to drag but finally i was off work, my parent meeting got canceled so i was done quicker than expected and it was off to the liquor store and home to get ready. michelle gets there and off we go. we stop by boardners to support gerard, lomeli, and curly but by 11;00 pm i was so anxious and ready to go that i pulled michelle and cristine out of there and off to Red.
fei-fei wasn't up yet, not sure who was, but it was a nice opening set. didn't hear too much of it due to the necessary stop by ernesto's bar for one of his magic drinks and then up to the patio to say hi to friends. so many people were there friday night that i love to see and i knew that i needed to spend time with them then b/c once john got on i was gonna be in my zone and dancing too much to visit with people.
fei-fei goes on and throws down a nice dirty set, hard pounding but brings it back down to transition into john's set. he's has his progression that he builds to although, i just love it hard and nasty.:D
john gets there and he greets everyone. i'm super excited and grinning from ear to ear. yeah i know, i'm an idiot but i just get excited about the music, really, his sets make me happy and i can't stop dancing. i swear i never dance harder than to john's sets. hello, white girl afro every time with my hair, lol :nervous:
of course he starts out beautifully and his signature hand gestures and smile and bouncing up and down is in full swing. i'm for iding tracks so i won't even try. but i just died track after track. i bounced from the stage to in front of the stage to the go-go box with des! thanks btw girl, love dancing with hot ass dancers like yourself :tongue2
i know john's set isn't for everyone, it can get pretty intense but no one can deny that this man mixes like no other, his progression is always amazing and takes you on a ride that you feel exhausted after you get off and his energy and crowd interaction is over the top perfection!!!!! he radiates positive energy from start to finish and keeps the crowd going. i swear, other djs need to take lessons from john on how to interact and react to the crowd!!! yeah, i know i'm biased, he's my favorite but it's true.
he finishes at 4:00 and he sticks around for pic and i get to talk to him for a bit. poor guy, i'm like a motor mouth since i haven't seen him since october so i'm talking his ear off but true to his ever gracious personality he tolerates me :p
then it's too bed for a few hours and then off to the airport for round 2 and SF. i was so looking forward to this night since the first time i ever saw john was at 1015 2 years ago so i was super excited and i really like this club.
matt(andrieux) picks me up from the airport, i had to wait for him for about 30 minutes so what better way to pass the time than at the airport bar with margaritas in hand :crazy: we get to the bay bridge next up to pay the toll and BAM!!! someone hits us from behind. we should have known bad luck was going to follow us into the city, and it did. only parts of it though.
after a quick change of insurance, pics of the mess and a few curse words we were on our way, only to sit in traffic, upon traffic upon traffic. :whip: but we get to chevy's to meet up with the TA's there. the SFTA's btw are super nice and so much fun. i loved the table tents that rizen made!!! so cool. more margaritas to consume and then off to the club. john couldn't make the meet up due to his plane being delayed by lik 3 hours so rizen wrote on one of the tents 6+ hour set for not showing up to dinner. lol, john got a laugh out of that one.
ish was laying down a very solid booty shaking set upon arrival and we were dancing hard already. great set ish and very nice to meet you and hang with you a bit. i knew my feet were going to hate me by the end of the night!!! and i even wore comfortable boots! the club starts filling up quickly and then john arrives and off to say hi to him again. john gets on the decks and you can instantly feel the frenzy in the room get even more insane. these people had been waiting patiently for john's return and he was about to thank them for their patience.
track after track got more and more insane. john was bouncing all over the place and going crazy himself. i said to him before he went on how awsome it is that he gets so excited about the tracks he is spinning and he laughed and said that he probably gets more excited than the crowd about each track. and it's probably true. he loves the music so much and i respect that. he loves what he does and he loves making people dance! again, the reasons why i think he is the best!
so much fun on saturday and i have to say that his saturday set was a tad bit better, more insane than friday night's. lol, he dropped rock your body rock, love that track, especially his version. i couldn't stop dancing, i was drenched with sweat, eww, i know but still. met so many people and the TA's, lets see if i can remember, knightlife (ish), mecca and his girl ( so great to see you guys again and dance with you),rizen( amazing pics btw) discodave (matt),ryanseezstarz(ryan so great to party with you on your turf) lex400 (rich), i'm trying here, dave t of course (loved the pics of your beautiful boy and i got several great drunk pics of you lol) nanci (you rock girl), and of course matt (andreiux) god, what good times and thank you so much for the ride to and from the airport and all the missles you kept launching at us ;) nice meeting the techno twins, groovy belly dancing belts ladies, and taj!!! so nice to finally meet you and your set was amazing. sorry i had to sit down the last hour, my feet just gave out but you kept the energy alive until 6 am!!!! and all the other TA's that i hung out with but cannot remember your user names, sorry, way too many margaritas for all the names to fit in my brain :tongue2
then it was off to rest the feet for about an hour, re-energize and hit the End up! and i'm so glad i did. i totally loved the bass that was coming out of the speakers at that place. major crackheads there but that is to be expected. at one point i realized i was surrounded by about 5 crackhead guys, no other chicks were anywhere to be seen and i all of a sudden felt like a lamb about to be pounced on by the big bad wolves. this one guy literally humped my leg, i had to push him off me and i was like wtf dude??? i didn't invite you in my space. but it's all good. i danced my ass off for another 2 hours until the group pulled me out of there.
this is where the bad luck followed us some more, due to the bay to breakers traffic was a nightmare and so we played in it for about 3 hours. it's all good though, thanks rich for putting up with us and sorry about the drive down the hill, i was heading down a rabbit hole and it was kinda scary with all the curves and steep slopes :nervous:
finally food, and matt the truck with too much stuff in it!!! then back to the airport that we got lost trying to get to, lol and then the worlds longest security line ever!!!! but then i got to my terminal, layed my backpack down as a pillow and slept on the floor until my flight was called. good times, good times!!!
again such a great weekend, yeah i know, it's a ing novel but i hope you were entertained a little. wish i wasn't missing john at EDC but it can't be avoided. i'll see the SFTA's for lovefest.

| Im not usually critical of JOOF at all as he is by far one of my favorite dj's to see. But friday night was not that good for me. Im not sure what it was exactly. I dont think the crowd was to in to his set as he kind of cleared the floor by 230ish. I think he was playing a bit to hard for me. usually i love to hear him play the full on stuff but i think i prefer his more progresssive opening stuff to his later on full on tracks. It was a bit to much for me friday night, probably the one time i didnt enjoy every minute of a JOOF set. |

| earlier part form Joof set was great. but on towards 2ish it started to go down on me. can't really tell what and why. maybe because of the vibe or the place or something else. but i will definitely give it a go on EDC and see what else he can bring if pulls on a massive event. see y'all TA's there :D |

nice review... j00f just moved up a lot on my favorite dj list... i'd say top with CL... i cant move CL down, because CL to me was like J00f to u! so they both up there, since they're best friends anyways!!!! im still waiting for the CL and j00f tour!!! omg... after j00f's set... i can only listen to instense bass hard pounding trance!!! i can't wait for EDC... there will be j00f and infected mushroom to finish off the night!!! :D :D :D u're right bout his interaction with the crowd, he was definitely makin me going crazy... and also i love his transitions from track to track to track... he was playing all kinds of trance that night! |

I'm also really happy you got to experience Taj and his amazing set!!! its like that every weekend!! :eyespop:
Hopefully we will see you up in SF more often.

Thank you for the kind words Gypsygirl! Im was soooooo happy to see you in SF for one of your favorite artists! It was excellent to finally meet you to! You for sure should try to make it up to SF more often. Especially when im doin my monthly event @ The Endup. Youll be more "safe" on the dancefloor when the whole crew is around...:happy2:

and taj i will definitely be hitting up the end up the next time i'm in SF, hopefully you will be spinning. i really did like the set up of that place. a really great afterhours destination! |

You do realize that a lot of times when I'm sober I look and talk drunk! I'm talk like a homeless dude who is going crazy and mumbles...WHAHAA!!!
As far as the EndUp, I gave up trying to dance there long ago...because I'd already be surrounded and hit on by dudes. BWAAHAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA. I miss going there. |
