What's your opinions or experience with using Windows notebooks for spinning live? is it stable? Should I go with a Mac?
Chris Allen
Haven't had Final Scratch crash on me once in the nearly 3yrs I've used it with a PC notebook.

That said, I'll be moving to the Mac world soon :)

Why would you change to a Mac is you didn't have any problems with a PC?

Production purposes, besides all the Mac > PC area's. Not to mention I don't DJ with FS anymore.

I run my serato off an HP laptop with Intel P4 3.2GHz CPU with 512MB of DDR333 RAM, a 60GB 4,200rpm HDD. Never had a single glitch. Serato runs flawless even when I open Audacity to record sets. I have used Torq and final scratch (now discontinued), and nothing compares to Serato. look for reviews everybody swears by it.
Are you going to be using it with TT's or CDJ's? and what kinda mixer you got?? Im in the market for a new 4 channel, just need to save for the DJM800:)

I have 2x CDJ-1000MK3 Just trying to see whether it's a lot more practical to pick a MP3 on a list rather then ejecting and switching the CD hence ruining the eject mechanism.

also define DJing :P

Wikipedia says it's anyone who picks the tracks that's being played.

Every person have their own definition of what a DJ is.

+1
get on the decks or GTFO

OK well what I meant was using a PC notebook and hooking it up to CDJs so I don't have to switch a bunch of CDs. Not using the notebook solely for mixing.
