Plans for a $100 million makeover of the St Kilda "triangle site" - the land next to Luna Park - on which the Palace sits stumbled last month.
Under the development plans, the Palace was expected to be bulldozed and the neighbouring Art Deco Palais Theatre refurbished.
The two leases expired on March 31, but neither operator had been evicted.
State Government lawyers argued in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal in March that unless access to the site was won by August 30 this year, the tender process to redevelop it could collapse.
Operators of the Palace nightclub and the Palais Theatre lost a Supreme Court appeal in April that sought to prevent the State Government inspecting their two buildings.
The tender process cannot be finalised without an inspection. The operators of the two venues had threatened a High Court appeal to stop the inspections.
If an appeal was allowed, it could take months, breaching the August 30 deadline.

IMO it would be good if metro gets sold, I have been really dissapointed almost everytime I have been to an event there, PVD however was awesome. They just have sound or some problem or cutting off djs early! :( |

Not been there in a long time but it's another blow to Melbourne's scene i guess.
Went to a couple of my first parties there back in 2000/2001, including a very early ITM party as well as Thomas Schumacher. Sunny's 6th Birthday with Pappa will always hold some awesome memories for myself with lots of random moments out the back room listening to Keltec & Mangan play the best set i think they ever have or ever will right at the height of the progressive breaks renaissance. |

I swear i was being teleported around the dance floor. Jono4L can vouch for this. cause it happened to him too!
I was trapped in a 4WD because i couldnt operate the radio and it wouldnt let me out. cars have rules apparently.
When i got out. everything was strange, the car was teleported. twice.
I was lost, found, lost, found, lost again and then deeman arrived. Phew!
I did my annual "walking into the tents" ritual. which i try to avoid each year. especially after walking over one with people asleep inside. :S [felt so bad after that, i didnt mean any of them]
i was watching ticon (in the rain on a deck chair on the dancefloor) + corn on the cob and 9 jumpers (which i didnt walk away from because of deeman!!!)
Then the sun came out for Atmos and D-Nox (purebliss!!!!!!!!!!!!)
good times a plenty!
KFC on the way home to top it off.
