Saw this one TV tonight.

Had to watch it over and over. It's just a beautiful advert.

VW is downgrading all their new engines by like half a litre and giving them superchargers + turbochargers instead.

Unreal!

Just hope it doesn't break down though, my turbo cost $3000 to get repaired. :whip:

i could never understand turbos. i mean they're expensive when they go and you have to hit a certain rpm otherwise the car is a dog. ok it's nice for a boost in drag racing but lets face it most of time in traffic its annoying.

I highly disagree.

I've never driven a high-pressure turbo, but my car's low pressure turbo is a gift from God himself. Lets you cut in front of people in city traffic like there's no tomorrow!

Guess what brand my car is

High pressures I can imagine would be more annoying as it's more of an on/off switch than a gradual increase in power as mine is.

i didn't get that either. there are a bunch of manufactures out there who make turbos though i'm not sure what difference it makes. i've never driven a low pressure turbo, but my contention is if you want a sporty car then put a sporty engine in it. the added pressure turbo puts on the seals and rings shorten the life of the engine and add to the overall cost. i'm sorry me no like a turbo

That...I definitely agree with.

I got my car back from service today.

$3700 to replace the radiator, some wheel bearings, a sunvisor, driver information screen (cheap, small lcd), and a few other piddly things.

The guy had the gall to tell me that it was a "bargain", when the previous service, just SIX MONTHS AGO, was for a similar amount.

The car is only eight years old for fsck sake!

I have a love/hate relationship with cars; they are such money sinks.

btw, the turbo on the mk5 gti kicks in at 1,800 rpms. The new r32 will be totally na, no turbo or super charger.

That said, the commercial is nice...doesn't have the same pull as 'the fast'. The Fast is the whole reason I got my GTI :p
