vinyl is awesome to use, but the cons far outweigh the pros.
i think lugging all that vinyl around is a pain in the arse, as much as i hate to admit it too, mp3s are the future.....
on that note its gonna be funny as fook when a dj's set gets ed by a hard disk failing half way through lol! |

CDs will be gone soon also... it will all be completely ethereal soon in high quality digital formats like mp3. |

presumably, if someone makes good mp3 turntables (i.e. not that ipod crap), but I still think people will want something physical to use. |

| having begun on vinyl, then using serato and vinyl, and then going through a period with no equipment and using ableton and then settling on cdjs, I can say that I never felt happy playing out with ableton and doing the whole mp3 thing. of course you can make quality sets with ableton and do all kinds of , which i did, but i just felt that it took away from the essence of what deejaying is all about, and that is being a music collector first and foremost. when you have to look for records and look for cds and burn cds and organize your collection and search for tracks in hard copy like that I just feel that there is something essential about that that gives me fulfillment. If I ever go fully digital again, it will be with all my own productions |
