It is very expensive for the labels to make vinyl :(
Shame :(

No it's not really not a lot of work to take a DAT master and release it on the web? Or no it's not really easier to pirate digital music than vinyl? Because you're wrong on both accounts.

yeah it's a shame. some time ago I was searching a superb track and I asked to the label for but they only released the track digitally. I have not yet done the effort to buy my cd decks because the sound quality and touch of the vinyl it's much better but I think I will have to do the investment soon. :(

It's exactly the same with me. Living in India, the bi-annual trips to record stores in London and Amsterdam were something I really cherished. Not just for the tunes themselves, but the process of holding, sifting thru, and admiring the cover art of various records.

Not to mention the human interaction with the store owners and managers, the salesmen... their recommendations; being slipped an unreleased promo from under the counter; and no, it's not the same as being sent an unreleased mp3 by your DJ/producer buddy. It doesn't "feel" the same.

And as much as we may argue, "its about the music and not the medium".. you'll never be able to convince me that the fulfillment that I get from playing off a slab of plastic, isn't worth the pros of "the ease of carrying", "digital quality", "more music per square inch", "it's the future"... any of that.

Yes, I'm nostalgic, romantic AND emotional about the music I play. Thats why i became a dj in the first place. And yes, as much as i embrace the internet and technological advances on our planet, it hurts to hear of vinyl being phased out, and stores shutting their doors.

There used to be so many stores in the big cities in the US but most of them have closed their doors because they can they just could not break even :(

Plus most of the scenes stars are getting payed to sponsor cdjs, labels can't make promos to send out to them because that is just to expensive so the format changes whether we like it or not.

Aren't there still some of the big Djs that spin vinyl?I thought Oakenfold does and on the Delta Heavy DVD Sasha buys a bunch.I've also seen Ferry with some record crates in show pics.

When did I say ripping vinyl was hard? It's just another step beyond having the track already on your hard drive. Ergo digital music is easier (or at least less time consuming) to pirate.
