Just the way Chuck came out I had a bad feeling...he just wasn't agressive enough... He's kinda like Tiesto in the music industry.,,,
Chuck-Made his money advertising, Tiesto - Mainstreem
He doesn't have the drive anymore....
They should have a rematch...just b/c then nobody will talk about Jackson....!!
Congradts to him...really!!! |

I'm sorry, did you just compare Chuck Liddel's fighting style to Tiesto's career DJing?
I know this is a trance board folks, but please, think before you speak. |

I'm just saying...Chuck has now become sooo famous and most of it has to do with all his advertising and so on.....
Tiesto same but in the music industry....
They both lost their drive........that's all...
It's all where the $ is...... |

I really don't know why Chuck was the favorite to win???
I have watched both fighters in pride and ufc for years, and it is very very very apparent that Jackson is a better fighter of the 2. |

But thats not really Chuck's fault, thats UFC's fault, Dana White loves Liddel and wanted to make him into a household name for the sport. Jackson shouldnt even had the fight, and he himself said that he felt he wasnt ready for a shot at the title cause he wasnt prepared. But Dana wanted Jackson to go down and wanted Chuck to have an advantage in this fight cause he wants Chuck to be champion still and make more money for the sport as the champ. |

WTF??? at all the generalizations about Chuck.
How does anyone here know if he lost his drive ??? He got KNOCKED OUT....SIMPLE.
He's never been very aggresive. He's a striker yes, but not an aggressor. 2 completely different things. (Even Joe Rogan mentions that during the fight)
BTW....that's the second time Jackson beat him, so I'm really not hoping for a rematch soon. Let someone else test Jackson first, and let Chuck regain his confidence before facing a man who has knocked him out, TWICE (psychologically crippling)
Chuck is Mr. Knockout....was longest reigning light heavyweight since he beat Tito...but IMO is as exciting as wonderbread.
ANYONE could have helped popularize the UFC by maintaining a prolonged reign as champion. People are attracted to anyone who maintains success in their given sport. I think his persona is as responsible for the UFC's success as I am for ripping Direct TV in the late 90s (the golden years of satellite theft) and showing it to everyone who would watch.
The ENTIRE SPORT of MMA has gained in popularity over the years do to SEVERAL factors which have nothing to do with Liddell, which in no particular order include,
-syndicated T.V. contracts with SPIKE.
-Social acceptance of MMA as a legitamat sport (I remember when you could only watch on DIRECT TV because no station would air it nationally)
- the decline in the 'perceived' credibility in professional Boxing
Sorry, I had to vent....I'm glad Chuck was knocked out. I'm one of the few who's more into mat wrestling/submission. |

Agreed. I would also like to add the I think UFC babies their champs too much. I like the PrideFC system more when they bring you the toughest match-ups possible. I think Chuck was getting away with some of his last few fights, Babalu who was clearly not even in the same league, Ortiz who barely beat Griffin, and a few other fights that were more marketing ploys than great match ups. Besides, how many fighters get to pick and choose their previous losses and "avenge" them, isn't that an unfair advantage in itself? I think the introduction of PrideFC fighters will shake things up a little, get rid of some of these over marketed relics. |
