My point exactly. They're stories.
I don't believe in stories. I certainly won't base my entire existence around them either.
Anyway, I cbf arguing about this. I have my beliefs, you have your blind faith. Let's leave it at that. |
They are not your bed time stories :gsmile: They are equivalent to philosophical discourses, only the bitter abstract pill is coated with sugar and passed on as chocolate. Here, the concept of a wise teacher is indispensable. Someone needs to tell you the implied meanings and then you can decide whether or not to base your entire existence around them.
I like how you have your "beliefs" and I have my "blind faith". Rather, you seem to be quite ignorant about the religious structures and don't seem to care less. That doesn't make you any wiser. |

Just curious, but how the hell did the critters from the America's get to the ark? Also... where did 30,000 feet of water (to cover as high as Everest) go?
Just wondering iz all. |

Simple, eh? |

| I'm surprised such a huge story of incest has made it in the bible. |

I like this post, it shows so much ignorance that it simply cannot be ignored. I'm interested to hear what exactly you believe is flawed about the bible and why. I presume that you are likely focusing on a litteral translation and how such a translation does not square with what we know to be true. If this is the case, I must wonder if you reject anything and everything that has ever been writen using allagory or metaphore. If that is the case, then should you not reject your own post? |
which is a relatively new position, once science illustrated what a joke the explanations in the bible have been. meaning that theists have moved the goalposts once we had the capacity and knowledge to thoroughly discount information in the bible. in short- its a copout from believers, indeed the argument that the bible is metaphoric in many cases is conjecture at best- it is the deeply-needed position by otherwise rational theists in order to cling to their unbelievable belief system.

Finally, I submit that if you discount all religions, nay all things, simply because you cannot think past superficial inacuracies and/or are unable to grasp simple allagory then clearly you lack the ability to think critically, which would indicate you are weak minded. |
coming from a theist, thats pretty damned funny. |
