What setup would you rather have/perform on:

1) A Macbook Pro, xone 3d, a mid-range midi keyboard (or controller) and ableton

2) 2 CDJ1000mk3's, djm800, a mid-range pc/laptop, and serato

and why?

+1 I just can't get into it playing off the computer at all.
Smiley :D
each have their advantages, but i couldnt drop having a pair of CDJs in front me, at the moment i use ableton with an x session pro and cdjs/mixer - its a great combo and the best of both worlds (well, i've got the 800s, not the 1000s so not the best i suppose)

ableton is a stunning program but i cant get to grips with using it live, for pre panned mixes in sequence view - its brillant, arrange your tracks, map your midi knobs, select draw mode, hit record and and off you go

CDJ's for me. I admit I don't know masses about Ableton but I saw a friend of mine using it. In a couple of clicks & without any headphones he had 2 tracks beatmatched & did a perfect transition. Although he's tried my mate has no comprehension of how to beatmatch on my CDJ's, he just cannot do it & doesn't know what he's listening out for. Ableton is awesome software but where's the fun in that? I like to know the DJ is having to work for his beer money :)

I've also said CDJ's as I have Ableton in the past for a while and it was very interesting at first but then the novelty wore off and I quickly became very bored using it.

You just can't beat that hands-on feel you get with decks.

CDJs and DJM. I think that's because I don't trust softwares :)

id play more games then playing music if I got the laptop.

So +1 CDJ/Vinyl

I don't care what they do, I just want loads of buttons and switches in front of me. :wtf:

2 cdj1000Mk3 - DJM800 - 2 Tech 12s - Ableton on any computer that will support it.

As long as the mid-range computer is capable of running Serato Scratch to its full potential then #2 is the superior option.
ZeJayMan
The first option without a doubt. With a 3D and Ableton, the possibilities are endless, It doesn't end at mixing.
