For those of you that missed it, just wanted to fill you in on SOL and Morillo in vegas.
so glad i went this weekend!!!!! so much fun. we got there bright and early saturday morning, go to the palms to get breakfast, the largest margarite ever!!! and then our tickets for SOL.
we go back to the palms to attend the event, made a stop at the ghost bar, which i highly recommend for the view!!!! amazing and then off to the party. the first dj that was on was spinning some fun electro tracks that we couldn't help but dance to. don't know who it was but i likey, liked his set. we bounced back and forth between outside and club Rain to hear different djs. the place was set up nicely. one of the outside djs was playing some nice tracks so kris and i were out there dancing and all of a sudden he just switches to hip hop :whip: we were both like wtf??? we instantly stopped and walked off the dance floor and back inside.
about 1 am eddie halliwell gets up there and we are all excited to see him b/c i've loved his last few sets but this time, not sure what it was but we just couldn't get into it and you could tell he wasn't either. i guess just an off night or something. we ended up leaving before he was done. he would drop a nice track and then follow it up with a let down. and his usual cool tricks and effects just weren't there like normal.
nice to see some TA's in attendance from LA there and of course meeting all the random people that you do in vegas :)
sunday was the palms pool party day portion of SOL and this had to be one of the funnest pool parties i have ever attended!!!! we had so much fun. the djs were playing fun, electro style, shake your booty and groove to tracks. the vibe was so chill and people were having a great time. we had a blast. the dude from starkillers laid down a very nice set and then cedric got up there and finished us off!!!! his set was so much fun and we didn't stop dancing the whole time!!! i swear you could't wipe the smile off our faces!!!!
then back to the hotel to get ready to go to Tao for Morillo. i knew it was going to be a mad house of a line so we hurried to get there and of course the line was stupid but we have our little EDM angels watching out for us and no problems at all we get in quickly. the club is beautiful and the bouncers were very nice but that is all i have to say positive about that place. this is not a dancing friendly club!!! the place is set up of about 85% vip roped off and a dance floor the size of a postage stamp!!! :whip: it was ridiculous. and more than half the people there had no clue or cared that they were there to see morillo!!! i had several conversations with guys about the music and they had no idea. it was a joke. they just didn't get it! it was unsafely packed and there was no room to dance and of course totally ed up people trying to walk all over you to get to places to dance that didn't exist!
but anyways, i really wanted to catch morillo's set so i was determined to stay and enjoy. kris, patrick and jason left soon after morillo got on due to the size of the crowd and i can't say i blam them. fotis stuck it out with me and we ended up moving to the back by the bar and there was actually some room but you really couldn't see eric due to the giant arch way in between the bar and dance floor and all the drunk girls standing on the booths in front of us. but that's okay, b/c i could hear the music and i am so glad i stayed. his set was so great!!!!! i loved every sound coming out of the speakers, the feeling of the music was so intense and from what i could see of eric, man, he just totally gets into it, giving off the vibe to anyone who will accept it and just moves you. he played a house version of Rippin Kittens, i just died!!! and by about 3:45 the dance floor was a little more managable so we moved our way closer and right as we did he dropped this track that had the whole martin luther king i have a dream speech!!! i was mesmerized, i felt like i was in church and eric was up there preaching. i had chills all over. i truly loved his set and him and that's saying a lot with all the bull i was dealing with all around, crackheads everywhere, lol!!! but whatever, i danced my ass off and left wanting more. so glad i went and stuck it out to finally experience morillo.
so all around, good times, good times. vegas was a blast and my travel partners were the best :tongue2

Cool. Ya, I was in Vegas this weekend too and caught Gabriel and Dresden at Tao Friday night.
Actually to be honest, I didnt even know he was spinning there till later on that night when we were getting ready to leave and I saw his name on a flyer with his timeslot at 1:30am. So I stayed for a few more hours! :) He was spinning on the top floor - Tao Beach. But, the volume was so low it was hard to hear his tracks. It was more of a chill atmosphere - didnt see anyone dancing up there. |

Eddie's set was definitely not a typical one on Saturday night and it's because of the crowd. 99% of them didn't have a clue who Eddie was, and everytime Eddie checked the raised dancefloor to see people's reaction to his music he would just see a bunch of Asian crackheads standing around. I felt so bad for him because I know it's really discouraging to him and affects his set :( Towards the end, he played more like we're used to see him play but it lasted only for a few songs because it was Charles Feelgood's turn to get on the decks.
It was great to see so many LA TAs but the rest of the crowd just made me gag because of all the slimy guys, silicon wonderland and playboy bunny wannabes. We peaked outside a couple of times but everytime we just heard hip hop so we ran back inside. When Eddie came on I went in my little world and danced through his whole set and ignored everything else around me.
BTW, what was up with that one go-go dancer??? :wtf: She obviously thought she was performing at a strip club and people were staring at her like a trainwreck with a disgusted look on their faces and laughing at the same time :stongue: |
