| I only ask how people are doing if I truly give a , otherwise it's pleasantries and I'm only saying it to save face. I guess some people love façades. |

| I kinda like it when it's from collegues I work closely with, it adds a sense of familiarity, kinda like how you don't greet your family every morning when you wake up. Or do you? |

| The same goes for retail too. I think it's pretty tacky when customers come in, do not greet the employee what-so-ever, and start barking out orders. 'gimme this, gimme that'. some parents need to be re-raised themselves. |

agreed, though its definitely important if you don't know the person/aren't a regular, or if there's a line behind you
but for someone who knows me or if i'm a regular at the place i'll always humor them with some conversation. if there's time for conversation with a random customer, chances are they're bored and welcome it
