oh yea and ADD also leads to depression because of the child feeling like they are a failure, and depression actually has a lot of the same symptoms as ADD, so i think a lot of people are so quick to be like, "oh my kid has ADD" but really, they're just depressed. that's why it's such a huge fad almost. people don't want to admit to being depressed.

do ur research people.

i would love to re-call a thread about shrinks being essential pushers of the medicine market...

all of you have a point, but ADD is very real and little medicine can make a difference...

There are other alternatives for those with ADD besides the amphetamine derivatives. One that can be used is Strattera for example. It can't be used recreationally though, if that's ultimately what you're after. Provigil/modafinil is used for sleep disorders as well as for some minor instances of narcolepsy, but doesn't have a use in ADD as far as I've heard.

For every one person like that, there are 10,000 who didn't go to school and are paying the price.

it is, and unless u had it, u should really just shut up about it.

i actually struggled for a really long time thinking there was something majorly wrong with me, like i was a moron or something. it was weird. thoughts like, "i KNOW i'm smart, but i feel so dumb". sounds lame, but it sucks. and this was back when ADD wasn't such a big epidemic too, so it never occurred to me or my parents that i had it. didn't discover that i did until i was almost done with high school. i've grown out of about 90% of it, but i definitely still have my ADD moments.

Ding ding ding. The exact way I felt. I was tested for it at a young age, but never put on medication till senior year of high school when my ADD was getting worse to the point where I pretty much couldn't read. That becomes a problem when youre taking all AP courses. :nervous: I knew I was as smart as anyone I knew but there was a problem going from point A to point B in my head. Buuuuuut, ever since I started getting treatment for my ADD i've been able to deal with it much better. I also only take my medication when I need to...no point in being a ing zombie...which is how I feel if I take it multiple days in a row.

lol me too. i took AP english and i would have to read the same paragraph like 5 times before i knew what it was about. ing sucked.

also, i did a ton of research on it and you can show signs of ADD as early as your todler years, which i did. extreme temper tantrums are the first sign. and i don't mean just like a typical baby crying in the store. i'm talking like thrashing around and kicking and screaming. that's how i was. i feel bad for my mom. lol i would be in the store and throw a fit and literally start knocking down all the stuff on the shelves and then she'd try to pick me up and i'd kick her and flip out. i brought a whole new meaning to the term "terrible twos" lol
