i am really surprised they did this..to this magnitude. the Island pretty much shuts down during the winter months. It depends so much on its tourism. (pop. goes from 85000 to about 325000). I can't believe some official decided to do this, knowing that it would cripple its sole source income. |
actually contrary to popular belief, ibiza does not solely rely on clubbers for tourist income. the island has always been a tourist place even b4 it's edm/clubbing reinvention in the 80s+. i remember driving through this one town full of old retired folks. |

Can anyone read spanish?
If so, can you find the article in the actual paper to confirm it?

A friend of mine was talking to his friend that just landed in Ibiza this morning and hadn't mentioned anything about it in their msn conversation....so just curious if it is 100% true |

well the other clubs like space/pacha/privilige(manumission)... are not shut down, so the clubbers can still party. |

well this news pretty much ruined my morning, 50% of why I was going next month was to go to DC 10. lol I'm not even kidding you...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that will be a lot better in a month and a half...
if Paris Hilton can go back to jail, DC10 can re-open it's doors for evil clubland... |

Hah, just like Toronto. Every tourist spot has a different threshold, but once it's reached, the NIMBYism will reach fever pitch, government officials will crack under the pressure, and the momentum of the cycle becomes enough to keep it going indefinitely.
Sucks for the ones who've planned vacations there during those months, but look on the bright side, you'll save a ton of money and have more of a chance to absorb the local culture instead of sketching out. |

true, but the economy would still shatter without the club tourism. San An would be a wasteland. hahaa
This story is probably big news in England... Do we have any other sources? I'm gonna go check... |
