A club rig, you dolt.
P.S. The "probably don't even have cars" comment was pretty funny. Are you in high school or something? |

Whats the best way to 'fix' too fat kicks, where the bass is after the initial blip/thump?
Time compression, subtle pitching up of the kick or adjusting the ADSR? |

I mean... assuming the sub tail is too long, would seem the logical option :) |

| true but sometimes the issue can be slow kicks, you know when it starts with the mid thwack but the actual bass part is a bit after. Rather than a tight punch it's more drawn out. So was thinking the only way to solve this is use time compression |

Use a different kick. |

no dude, you're wrong
junkie try highpassing the kick and layering it with another kick that has the low bass boom at the start of its attack. |

Great idea, I'll try that. Up till now I usually just try to tune sampled kicks but not really blend multiple kicks together.
What are ppls opinions of grabbing kicks off mp3? Unfortunately I've found a perfect initial thwack from Dark E - Cold Fever but my bitrate is 192kbps?

| just got brand new subs today :D another 2 12 setup but this time they are going into a sealed box. richg i got a question for you, since you've designed speakers: do standing waves matter alot on sealed boxes? if they do why do most ppl make big rectangle boxes? |

I thought the practice was to use some baffling or stuffing on the back wall to cut down on standing waves... that and the frequencies are low enough that the wavelengths are relatively large in comparison to the back wall. 500hz has a wavelength of a bit more than two feet...
...yet I'd rather hear richg's explanation. |

ok, lets all start mastering/producing specifically for the unintelligent minority that stick the wrong type of sub in their car! thats heaps smart. how do you come up with this stuff?
/end sarcasm
i dont give two s what my songs sound like on your wack car sound system. i'd rather they sounded good on a hifi/club. this is 100% your fault, and no one elses. the mastering process is to ensure your song sounds good on as many systems as possible. unfortunately, that does not include systems that are screwed up.
get a new sub ;) |
Well the idea of mastering is to make your track sound good in as many ranges of quality systems as possible, whether it be the club or this dude's e sub in his crown vikki. |

It's basically like arguing music should sound awesome on a set of 1 inch unpowered PC speakers. |
