Don't mind me, I'm just f*ckin' around.
It's just that you are the first "new" TA that I have ever seen that actually knew where the event thread was, created a poll, used the post image function, used the edit/delete function, accurately described many of the "groups" commonly found at guv, and felt comfortable enough to crack a couple of jokes...all on your first day of posting in this forum. You are clearly a fan of Deadmau5 (which is cool) and/or know him personally.
It all just seemed a bit "out of the ordinary", that's all. Like I said, don't mind me. All good. Hope you guys have a great time on the 23rd.
Welcome to Toronto!!!

I will agree with you somewhat.
The club tries really hard to make the experience enjoyable: awesome staff, reasonable sound, clean venue, reasonably priced drinks, easy access (dress code & such).
I think what footwork is missing is consistency with respect to "the party". I've been there some nights where the entire place is going off and others where the entire place is just standing around having cocktails (and more often than not half the place is going off and the other half is having cocktails).
Consistency is a hard thing to come by mind you - TiL doesn't have it either (IMO).
Consistency can also be being known for "something" (i.e. I usually knew what I was getting when I went to Boa, Sonic and SystemS, I usually know what I'm getting when I go to Guv). Footwork has many different events catering to different crowds (venue rentals maybe?) - which may be why some don't feel that "home" feeling every weekend when they go there.
I could be entirely wrong however - but this is just one perspective from someone who has only been there maybe a dozen times.
Overall I would say it is a good venue - one of the better ones in the city - however if they could do something to make it feel more like "home" (consistent) - I'm certain I would go there more often. |

Footwork is one of my favourite places to listen to EDM in Toronto right now. Rabbit Joker has a good point with consistency; I think the owners and booking agents of footwork are trying to give the club as much variety as possible...it's actually good to hear such fresh sounds arriving at footwork, in my opinion...such as Claude Vonstroke (Click here for related link/review. This tends to throw off certain expectations of a certain sound on a certain night. This being said, I think Friday nights produce a pretty consistent sound. Either way, I always have a blast there. The crowd, the management, the recent renovations and the sound system are all very enjoyable. The new hardwood floor is a welcome addition as well.
They serve alcohol until 2am, as everyone has said, and after that it is energy drinks, water and soda. One thing I wish they would sell is gatorade!
While you are there, make sure you sit in the new raised back seating area, and feel the bass there...what a solid clean sound. Footwork has great sound from almost any spot in the club. A welcome detail addressed but relatively few clubs.
As stated, definitely not your guv crowd. People are there for the music, for sure. There's a host of Friday night regulars that are good peeps and it has been a pleasure getting to know them.
Enjoy your time there! |

I actually like the fact that it showcases so many different sounds, because it's a club different people will eventually check out, unlike TIL, Hotel, etc. which I probably will never set foot into (even though I want to check out the venues) since they play the same thing time after time. FootWork's versatility is a major plus imo. |

made my return to footwork this past weekend- love the changes they have made- hard wood floor, great for dancing- sound system is pumpin- open dj booth is another great addition- the staff are really friendly, from the door straight the the bathrooms- clean and comfortable- great club in general-
warning #1: watch for the drapes hanging from the ceiliing near the entrance, its a great place to bump into people-lol
warning #2: you will want to go back again and again.... |

| It drives me :eyespop: #@$##@# crazy when there is more than ONE photographer with a SLR camera. I don't wear sunglasses to the club and have to resort to all the flashes. :eyespop: |

My most preferred club at the moment. I've been to some amazing parties at this venue, and it always has potential for something great. Not a big fan of their regular nights and the crowds that come with it, BUT, this place rocks for techno events. More of these bookings please :D
And let me just say yes! to the addition of hardwood flooring <3 |

Andrew thought you were either (A) a promoter for Footwork or (B) promoting somehow for Deadmau5. He's a jaded bastard, don't mind him. :p

Interesting how those three examples of consistency are no longer with us. Maybe that was their downfall, not appealing to a broad enough segment of the marketplace. One sound, one demographic, no money. lol

Yeah 7 rooms, all completely different styles. lol
