So I want to get my dad a digital camera for $200-$300. It has to be a point and shoot type of camera and i want no less than 7mp.

Any suggestions?

the image stabilization on the canon will give you clearer/sharper images than those extra MP will on the casio

This man speaks the truth. Just get a Canon Powershot SD700-900 preferably with IS.

had this camera a loved it. best camera i ever bought. i say had because i gave it to a really good friend of mine for her bday. she used it 2-3x more than i did so it made sense. she loves me for it. her bday was 3 months ago and she still thanks me.

i would HIGHLY recommend getting an SDHC card also. the 4gb sandisk class 6 (the highest performing SDHC card in the sandisk lineup of that size and for sd) is $100 on pricewatch. the camera combined with that memory card is the best point and shoot combination EVER. optical image stabilization, lots of storage, very versatile camera, and good wide angle lens (this is a HUGE selling point for me. the 850 loses the wide angle lens!). what more can you ask for! i seriously didnt expect to be so satisfied.

i have the exilim. just dont plan on being a professional photographer with it. It isnt for putting on a tripod and taking national geographic pics its for grabbing a cool image that looks pretty solid and youre fine. quick to open, long bat life, i like it

ok in looking at the sandisk site the SDHC collection has gotten HUGE. when i bought it they had ONE sdhc offering and it was 4gb ULTRA II. now they have the Extreme III 4gb and ULTRA II 4gb & 8gb. :) the 4gb card when i got it was still $230 from sandisk directly and now its $120. so prices have come down considerably. i cant find the card i bought on pricewatch anymore but just search around.
