:/ how to record Daft Punk live?

any tips on what is best to use at a live event so that the audio isn't so ed up with DONK DONK DONK bass?
I want to record to video. So bring a DVR, pencil flash recorder, cell phone? |

| Sure you can. Just use the tape recorder from the 80s that my dad still uses to bootleg shows he goes to. Great quality. |

| I doubt you'll be able to get a worthwhile video/audio copy of it - and unless they allow recording at their shows (i.e. every hippie band ever in the history of hippie bands), you probably won't even get a decent audio recording. |

Pretty much. My digital camera could do a decent job, but there's no way to record a whole show on it nor more than a five minute clip. Also, good freaking luck getting around security. They'll rip out your tape/memory card and break it right in front of you before kicking you out. |

is that an american thing? cus people seem to smuggle in cameras all the time by the looks of "/artist/ LIVE part1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" videos on youtube- practically whole concerts/sets/performances on very good quality video.
forgive me, i don't go to concerts, although I did take a camcorder with me to Smashing Pumpkins with me back in, 95-96, no problem then |

It's hardly an American thing, and usually artists do it to protect themselves and/or potential profits.
Is it a Clear Channel show?

Oh, it's possible to get away with it. I've seen bootleg DVDs where a crew of two or three people bring in camcorders, mount them somewhere and have managed to do their own production of an entire show. How they get away with it is beyond me.
More often than not they're not allowed, so it's simply a matter of smuggling them in and somehow not getting caught during the performance. Ballsy move, because the second they spot you your ass is out on the street. |

| It happens all the time. The stuff you see on youtube tends to be a bunch of clips recorded via digital camera. I've never seen a "decent" Daft Punk recording from one of their shows. Someone did a pretty good one from Coachella, I think he just had a digital camera that was able to take longer movie clips...or Coachella just wasn't that strict. |

Festivals have been notoriously easy for me to sneak contraband into - I've brought a bong into the field for every Bonnaroo I've ever been to :) |
