you cant stop pedophilia but you can lessen the risk that many peoples lives will be ruined by those stupid ass s. why cant you get off your high horse. the "taking the high road" is ing stupid with this. if i were to rape/molest/etc your wife/daughter/son would you be pissed? hell yes! would you want to kill me? hell yes! no more moral fiber dude. just think about it. you need to really think about it and realize that we will protect what means the most to us. if some dude did to my daughter and he got away with it id be killing his ass ellie nestler style. and id be proud to go to jail for it! |

| according the "just deserts" theory, this sort of punishment isn't effective. it talks about how each individual (even criminals) are all different and by punishing one a certain way, isn't going to make all the others learn their lesson. |

I watched an episode of that show one time where they played clips from about 10 of those guys where they asked them if they came to have sex with the girl and they all said "no, no way" or "I just wanted to talk" or whatever. Then they played clips of the exact same 10 guys and they asked if they had condoms with them and they all said "yes" |

i agree. they wont learn their lesson cause they are deranged and disturbed to begin with. you cant really change them. they are already way to deep in it to even change their outlook on things. |

Are you seriously just not reading? Or thinking? I have not said that they should not be punished or incarcerated for what they've done. I totally agree that it's pretty much the most horrendous thing that one person can do to another, and yes, I would be quite pissed if somebody I knew was raped. But just as there should be separation of church and state, there should be separation of emotion and state - justice is not there to exact revenge or to satiate your bloodlust - it's to protect specific instances from occurring again (however much it fails at that) through punishment. Just because the people are angry and want to see death does not make it right. Do rapists and pedophiles deserve any better? Of course not. But the satisfaction of deserving is not and should not be in the hands of the government nor should it belong to the desires of an angry mob of people who had -all nothing to do with the situation but show their support of one another because they think that it elevates them to some incarnation of noble brutality. |
