What's more scary are the beliefs these people hold - and they live in the world's most "advanced" nation. I mean, there was plenty of room for T-Rex on Noah's Ark right? |
obviously every American believes that. Yay for sweeping generalizations :) |

well, given the role of the US as the only superpower, you have gotta concede its religious beliefs are pretty knuckle-dragging stuff when compared to, say, its scientific achievements.
i think renegade posted some stats in the PDD, where 50%+ americans believed the world was less than 10K years old. |

haha, yer. evangelical movement is like a cult of christianity. and the creation science museum is 25 million worth of models, based on ken hams ideas as to what the world was like at its dawn, 6500 years ago :p
evangelicals and scientologists are almost comparable these days. |

Hahaha I also remember CNNN playing trickery on them as well. They got a map and asked people in the street to point out where Iran was and all of them pointed to Australia because it had "Iran" written on it.
Asked the question 'What the US should do with Iran' and the answers were mostly along the lines of "Kill them all", and 'They hurt us' (pointing to a map of ing Australia!!!!!) 'So now they should die'
IRAN!!!!!!! |

we're 60 years on. i think the destruction or dismantle of israel isn't really a real option. thus, we must work with what we have. yes, the palestinians are quite marginalised in palestine right now. how do you think they would be living had they accepted a country of their own back in the 40s? how much of their loss is due to constant violence from militants? how long are they willing to throw their children's bodies against an advanced military power?
im very central on this entire issue. both sides are in the wrong. but until the palestinian leadership rejects violence (hello hamas & fatah) in favour of peaceful negotiations, they get less sympathy from me. |

i think palestine has the right to defend herself from within against the occupation. no matter how many years on. 60 years isnt that much considering how long the Arab people have existed... The Israeli army is receiving constant support and is turned a blind eye, to do what it likes to oppress the rightful habitants of Palestine.
But yer you are right that it is well established, and I really don't know any feasible solution to it all (kicking the israelis out only creates different problems, and will never happen anyway). I'm just not in favour of how it is now. |

if the palestinians were targetting primarily IDF targets and personnel i would agree to an extent. sending random rockets into civilian centres, and suicide bombers into crowded markets with the expressed goal of killing civilians just isn't tolerable.
yes, the IDF kill civilians too. but i dont see collateral damage quite the same way.
but youre right. its pretty ed up and no easy solution is to be found. if they could just stop killing each other and give a chance for talks... which wont happen of course as long as hamas is in control. |
