first of all, it's a myth created at communities that reason has a sound engine that is worse than cubases, FL's, [insert favourite sequencer software yadi yada here].
Reasons sound engine processes them float numbers in 32bit just like cubase and FL ;) (I know it's a bit simplified saying that but you get the frickin point). Nuff about that and back to topic :D
it shure as hell looks good, it's really about time that they update the sequencer part since it felt really old tbh. Vector manipulation, the possibility to create second takes and stuff like that is super! (I often tend to have small bursts of track layed out in the sequencer, no need for that any more :D)
Thor looks interesting too, seems like you can do pretty much anything you want with it. And imagine a few thors, subtractors and malstroms combinated...my god what a crazy setup that could make.
The only thing I really miss (as usual) is the (at least in other programs)regular audio track. I mean shure you have the samplers NN-19 and NN-XT but if you want to work with a full vocal track the only good option is to rewire. Why on earth can't they just create a simple audio track, it doesn't need warping options, automatic stutter magic and a laser gun. I would be perfectly happy with a basic audio track! |

| No. I'm pretty sure it needs a lazer gun. :D |

Yeah exactly... full support to waveforms could be great...
I won't feel very comfortable if you just drop the audio clip and it will be out of sync with the other elements of the track =/ It could be very very messy...
It must to have a single wrapping algorithm so we can get at least little sync with the main tempo.
And imagine that I was especting that the new version could have this support... I see that it's not the case... U_u
Whatever... the thing that I liked much is the new sequencer feel...
Is plenty such a great update... =)
Cheers! ;) |

Agreed.
The Props are just too stubborn with the whole "Reason is not Cubase" thing. :(
Reason needs very basic audio track support. Working with vocals doesn't feel natural in Reason as it is. |

It seems so recently that I had the same feeling about trying out the Combinator, and now here we are with a brand new synth to try out! Can't wait! :D |

Taken from the propellerheads newsletter:
"Breaking News: Reason 4 goes Golden Master!
---------------------------------------------------------
We are beyond happy to announce that we have reached an important
milestone this week as Reason 4 hit Golden Master status. This is tech
speak for having finished beta testing and shipped the master copy of
the software DVD to the duplication plant.
We would like to thank all the testers who have helped us tracks down
the bugs in Reason 4 during beta testing.
Now we enter a stage of manufacturing and shipping that will end with
the public release of Reason 4. We have not set a date for this release
yet, since we need to know that all parts of the production apparatus is
working before we can commit to a date. Watch propellerheads.se for
updates."
I was part of the beta and it went very smoothly. The Thor synth is really cool, the filters are fat.
The [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
is great, it sounds very close to a JP-8000 supersaw.
Oh and it should ship in about 6 weeks. |
