you need to get off your high horse and stop assuming things. Why do you always think if people dont go to your psy parties they are seeing Tiesto,Armin etc instead?what if they couldnt make it?what if they had work?not that I have to explain anything to you but I was actually on my way to see Ticon but I had to drive a friend to hospital,so no I didnt go see Tiesto
I HATE infected mushrooms fyi, I barely go to Guv for anything, they only reason I went a few weeks ago was to see J00F and I dont consider him "fake",but I guess according to you everyone who spins at Guv is cheese or fake. |
...if I can add something.
If you (Shankar) are trying to get other people who post on here AND would pay to go to a good psy set, you might not want to use such an antagonistic tone. If you are a promoter, why are you insulting other potential audience/business? You may be a "true psy" fan of Ticon, but it seems you have a few things to learn about marketing/promotion of the genre? I doubt anyone who has posted in this or the other psy thread even remotely likes Tiesto. Why so pissy?
And you telling me hardcore trancers suggestion to have a psy event on a small boat wouldn't be good for the psy scene in Toronto. You can't build any more positive ambience than dancing on water my friend. |

| Sorry, HardcoreTrancer - I think Skankar was making a general statement as well. Unfortunately, I know wayyyy too many people who are like the way Skankar described. On the other hand, I find his parties way too overpriced - which is fine, but not my cup of tea. |

ok so it seems like a lot of people here would love to have a outdoor psy events happening around here, but do you guys think a lot of people would show up for a big psy party?knowing the fact that this city is all about house mainly :(. Can we ever get the Ontario version of Eclipse? |
only way we're gonna hav large festival parties in and around the GTA is if they're comprised of a mixed genre formula, and I'm talking mixing non-EDM. but with all the politics surrounding DJ bookings and other acts and what not who knows if even that'll ever happen..
you don't have to go far to places like Europe to find huge multi-genre festivals, they're happening all across N. America nowadays and TO has fallen off.

Yeah, I think that's it. I read a lot of comments to the tune of "where's the psytrance in Toronto?" here on TA, but few people seem to bother venturing out of the mega-clubs.
With regards to price, I am afraid I don't agree. $20 is very reasonable for an intimate gathering featuring a prominent live act brought in from overseas, especially considering the amount of effort that goes into visuals and decor. Club events can get away with cheaper rates at the door by throwing ungainly extravaganzas, and let us not forget that psytrance events set the standard for effort put into environmental design. Any time I check out a regular party I am disappointed at how little is done (usually nothing) to spice up the space. But, then again, it really depends on what you're looking for in your nightlife experience... |

I wasn't talking just about you. I was talking generally about all the TA that keep on whining that there's no psy scene in Toronto and when there's actually a great party, where are they?? Ok, so one has job another has something else...but the rest? Why when I talked to someone from TA about him/her not coming to see Antix or Vibrapshere or etc when they really wanted to, and they reply "umm...Van Bureen was in town"? So what, he is in town every 2 months. Me being on high-horse? I am certainly not, but I definitelly have the right to be when it comes to people discussing how they will start an Eclipse-Size festivals in Ontario and psy boat cruises. And not just me, but everyone else who puts their time decorating, organising, promoting and bringing great musicians. You certainly don't have to make it to my psy parties, but there's also other teams, BLA and such that bust their ass for a good show and lose money just because they are passionate about what they do.

I never considered J00F fake. On the contrary, he's one of the best DJs that pushes psy movement further. Also, I never said that everyone who spins at Guv is cheeze or fake. With that said, I highly doubt The Guv will bring acts such as Vibrasphere, Ticon, Son Kite, Antix, D-Nox and Beckers, Tegma etc anytime soon. Some of these acts we actually managed to bring to Toronto at least once and never been dissapointed with their performance and personal approach. These things you will never get at Guv. Sure they bring killer acts over and over again until they end being killer acts, but the mood is somehow missing within the compound of warehouse walls. They don't even try to add a spice of deco in their venue, something that smaller psy events do and will continue to do. Imagine Vibrasphere mingling with the crowd after his live set. Would any artist do the same at Guv? No way! The limo driver and the prostitutes will be out of patience (and the blow will get cold)! Believe me that when I see a person especially on TA saying that he shares passion for our sound, we are really happy to see new faces at our events. Why? Because we want the scene to grow and variate. Only then you can do Eclipse-Size and bigger budget events, without Budwiser and Coke sponsoring you. Hardcore Trancer, my tirade was not directed specifically at you so I hope you didn't take offence. Just remember folks, that when attending a larger party, doesn't necessarily mean you'll get better quality. Most of the time it's the opposite, the quality is at smaller events that have nothing to invest but passion and love for what they do. |

I see what you are saying man,and you have a good point. The scene here is very different from Montreal and other cities, most people here prefer to see the dj at a super club like the Guv,Docks, etc.Hopefuly by time this will change and people will realize that there is more and better parties then just guvernment.I admit I used to be like one of those people that would go see Tiesto,Armin everytime they played in town, but that was awhile back when they were somewhat ok.

Agreed,Ive always had more fun at small venues then the bigger ones, much more relaxed and much more room to dance and awesome vibe.
Btw no offence taken,I thought you were specifically making your points towards me.
I wish you luck in the future, and we shall meet one day.
