but Americans have something like it too.

kind of scary really. with the money they could save from such a merger (economies of scale), BELL-US would be able to squeeze out the smaller midsize telecommunications companies.

so did i, but their phone's are garbage and you can't do anything about it
you pretty much have to pick 1 out of their 10 ty phones that they offer

same w/ bell...the only decent carriers that allow good phones is Rogers/Fido...

Still haven't switched over yet :(

and I was expecting Videotron to enter the market and force the other three to lower prices...

Now that Bell-us will be so big that it would be able to pay ANY price to buy the last remaining GSM spectrum :(

no problems here either. just resigned a contract. never had any issues with billing, reception, etc. im satisfied. merging with bell should make things better

i wonder how a uber-monopoly with less choices for the customers would benefit the population?

i would presume not , but right now as per as the internal email i got they are just in talks with BCE at this moment. There will be less competition. Also ottawa will have to give the okay before anything finalises.

In terms of rates and plans increases, i am sure it wont change much but we will have to wait and see even if the giants merge. Less competion bad for the market. But yet good for investors.

Personally i have loved their service. Also having a Fido and Rogers phone in the past their customer service was horrible and likewise their serive of fastbusy signals whenever i wanted to call out,bad reception and the reps not understanding simple english.

P.S- Telus is coming with CDMA/GSM handset the first one is due in July the Blackberry 8830 also 5x fater than rogers EDGE with new EV-DO Rev Awww.telusmobility.com/8830

Yet with the highest Cancellation/Churn rates in the country @ 8% almost as compared to Bell at 2-3 % and Telus at 1%.

Bell ain't all that great, so I don't know if it will make anything better for the Telus customers out there..

I agree will have to wait and see what the outcome will be first . I am hoping for something good for the consumer me being one.

This is exactly the problem. There needs to be downward pressure on prices. Things are way too expensive right now.

We don't need an "all Canadian" merger; what we need is more foreign competition. Let Cingular, Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, and T-Mobile compete with Bell, Rogers, and Telus. That's the only way to improve service and prices in Canada.
