Don't really have time to argue with you guys, In principle if your Rich and need a new phone and mp3 player all in one buy the iphone, If you are technical wizard and like gadgets get a smart phone etc.
Each device will have its positive & negatives, lets wait and see what happens in a few months.

For the record, I've been using a touch-screen phone (when it comes to typing) for the past 6 months (Motorola ROKR E6) and I can easily say that a keyboard trumps the touchscreen. That feedback is taken for granted.
As for the iPhone, great device with some solid specs and software. I won't be getting one because of the service provider and the price/obligation. For all those that do, enjoy your new gadget.
The one thing that really excites me about the device, though, is the multi-sensors. I've yet to use a device like that.

i would take a Blackberry over a Palm device. and i HATE both of them.

That's exactly what I want. A qwerty keyboard and an actual number pad. My phone has the touch pad only and it's a big pain in the ass to dial numbers.
