You can try, but you hardly will. I thought it took years to "mix like a pro". Arrogance is everywhere. It's not only about Djing. I see people, everyday: ( just 1 example) driving cars tuned up, and they brag around with it, doing loops in town centre, windows open, volume at max.
While they live in mom's basement.

Go on a golf course, you'll see a few interesting specimen... If s could fly, the skies would be black.

I have yet to read an arrogant post on this forum (or maybe I haven't been paying enough attention), because I know that most of the people hanging out here actually know what they are talking about.

So that brings up another question: Is it really arrogance, or do you see it as arrogance because other people actually know a lot more than you do?

quote:
1. Arrogance is intrinsic to a DJs nature as you have to be arrogant to get up there and expect 100s of people are gonna be interested in the music you play and (in some cases) near worship you for playing music that isn't really yours by creation.

So you think it doesn't take any talent at all to create something that is yours, by using other people's music?

Paul van Dyk also plays music he hasn't created himself. Yet, he's a really down to earth guy, with no arrogance about him at all. And he is voted no. 1 dj in the world. Care to explain that?

Tiesto has been voted #1. And he's a #1 dick as well

Interesting. I assume you have some sort of basis for this claim.

True. But he's arrogant as well. And rightfully so, because he's not the best dj in the world, but still thinks he is.

I personally am adrummer, a trained pianist, and have my own studio.
I am certainly not a frustrated musician. A lazy one yes, but not frustrated.

Confidence is often mistaken for arrogance
Spoonz
confidence and arrogance, there's a very fine line.

to say djing doesnt take as much talent as playing a piano/guitar/drums/wotever, is rediculous lol.

to be a good dj u have to be very talented! u have to have skills and the ability to use them to their fullest.

it would be unfair to say every DJ is arrogant, many are i'm sure. but if u looked at all the pianists, drummers, etc, i think u would find just as much arrogance.

WOW, is this kid for real? Theories? All dj's are arrogant??

Theory one just gets in my nerves for example. The general statement that dj's want to be treated as gods is rediculous. Dj's can't enjoy their job, or have fun behind the decks, just because the music they play isn't theirs?

SRLY, WTF IS THIS!?

Do we even need to respond?

Maybe I just missunderstood, but to me, this just seemes like garbage to its fullest.

...for the thread starter:

nada a ver velho, que isso? dez de quando a arte de ser dj virou filosofia, e dez de quando o comentario de que TODOS os dj's querem ser deuses faz algum sentido? provas? soh por que algums da qhui sejam arrogantes com os que nao entendem, aham, te dar o direito de faser um comentario geral assim?

I don't believe it... All of my friends that have met him didn't say a bad word about him as a person. He's fun, sometimes a bit shy even.
