Ableton, Reason for Djing... |
Not true. It's a proven fact that because of the clear sound quality of Logic, and the obvious rendering issue with Ableton, that Logic would be the better choice for dj'ing.
Whatever you go with, don't forget you have to have ProTools, too. None of these programs are very good without going through ProTools to improve the sound quality. Every professional producer uses it. In fact, it probably makes you a better dj too. |

What "obvious rendering issue with Ableton?" |

Mr. Jingles, I think he was being sarcastic with his post.
Although sm44 seemed quite convinced of it. I'm curious as to what leads sm44 to believe that? |

If you can make pro tools do what you want, then I have to admit, you must be a great producer:crazy:
RE the original question, I would forget about reason, I personall find it too difficult to use, which isn't to say that great productions arent made using it, only that I don't like the fact that you can't do audio.
If you have PC then that only leaves ableton. If you have mac I'd use digital performer:D It looks like it has all the coolness of Live but all the features of Logic (track folders, routing etc).
It really doesn't matter. |

Helps to be able to spell Ableton before complaining about its poor rendering. If you want to be taken seriously, that is.
(No, I don't use Ableton, and I really don't give a flying about its rendering) |

i was leaning towards logic because i know abelton has poor rendering
but what about reason? i hear reason is better for dance music, is that necessarily true? |
I'm having the same thoughts today. I tired of the way VSTi's act up in Fruity Loops 6. I just took 3 days to get a certain track to render properly, without any squawks coming from the VSTi's. Albino 2 is one I use a lot, and it and FL just don't seem to work perfectly together.
I'm wondering what other DAWs are most like FL studio. I want the transition to be as easy as possible. I'm thinking either Logic or Sonar. Reason is out for me, because I use a lot of 3rd party VSTi's. I really hate to leave FL studio behind, but I'm about fed up with this VSTi situation. That's the only reason I'm thinking about switching over to another DAW. |

i have just heard abelton has lower sound quality overall so it can run on slower computers. I have heard this from audio engineers. im not 100% if this is true or not and have no proof but it makes sense to me.
I was really tossing up between Logic and Reason
I am buying a mac so i thought logic would be the best choice
And for $800 student version (Australian dollars) with the amount of plug ins it comes with i thought it was a good deal
i think pro tools is the one with the wank factor and to suggest u have to wire logic through pro tools to get better sound quality sounds ridiculous
i am not an expert on abelton so i would not know, i think fruity loops is a great program but reason i wasnt really sure about especially reason 4 so i wanted a few opinions.
I didnt post here for someone to tell me what program to get, i have pretty much already decided on logic because it is pretty similar layout to fruity loops, but before forking out the cash i thought i would get some last minute opinions. |
